Secondary Dean/Activities Director

This position is located at Martin County West Junior/Senior High School in Sherburn, MN.  This is a 182 day (plus extended days) contracted position with competitive salary and comprehensive benefits defined in the Certified Master Agreement.  The primary responsibilities of this position are promoting positive student relationships, decision-making, and behavior and coordinating the school district’s extra- and co-curricular activities and athletics programming.

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the principal in maintaining a safe and secure learning environment.
  • Administer attendance and disciplinary procedures that align with district policy, Minnesota State High School League rules, and state and federal law and are conducted in collaboration with other school and district staff, law enforcement, and parents.
  • Supervise students on school grounds before and after school, particularly during lunch periods and school-sponsored activities and events.
  • Coordinate all aspects of extra- and co-curricular activities and athletics programs including: hiring, training, and supervising coaches and advisors; managing inventory and budget for equipment, materials, supplies, and uniforms; scheduling and arranging payment of officials; coordinating student participation and monitoring eligibility; working with the Community Education Director to schedule use of facilities; and, serving as the school district representative on applicable committees and boards as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the school principal and/or superintendent.

Qualifications

  • Current Minnesota teaching license
  • 3-5 years of successful teaching experience
  • 1-3 years of successful junior or senior high coaching experience
  • Ability to provide own transportation to different sites in and outside of the school district as needed

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships
  • Knowledge of classroom management and student discipline strategies
  • Facilitate difficult conversations with students, staff, and families
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Efficient time management amidst multiple deadlines

Fourth Grade Teacher

The Albert Lea Area School District’s main office is located in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The school district has an approximate enrollment of 3,602 pre-kindergarten through grade twelve students.

School Social Worker

Position Summary:
This position serves as a School Social Worker position at the Owatonna Middle School. This position supports students through IEPs and students in the general population in the areas of social/emotional support. This position works closely with community resources, connecting families to outside resources they may need. The Social Worker will provide 1:1 support along with some small group work. Strong communication skills with individuals, families, and outside agencies is imperative in this role. The Social Worker must be able to offer supports to students and families or find the resources needed.

REACH Counselor/Social Worker (2022-2023 School Year)

Position Summary:
This position serves as the primary social/emotional support of the REACH program that serves selected students in grades 6-8. This particular position will serve sixth and seventh grade sections and will run the first two periods of the day.  REACH stands for Responsibility-Education–Academics-Character-Hard Work. Class sizes are small (10-13 per section) and are supported by a full-time teacher and a counselor/social worker. Students work on goal setting in their personal and academic lives as well as personal growth. Their motto is: This is your life we are talking about. Nothing is more important. A background in understanding ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and/or working with students who have experienced trauma or need additional emotional support would be beneficial.
