2022-23 Graduate Teaching Fellowships

Minnesota State University, Mankato

Openings are available for the Graduate Teaching Fellow Program (classroom experience while working on a masters degree program in Education).  Applicants must have a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts Teaching degree in Mathematics.

Seniors in a teacher education program who will complete all requirements for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Teaching degree, complete all required testing, and obtain appropriate Minnesota teacher licensure by August, 2022, or recent teacher education graduates (who have not held regular teaching appointments) are eligible to apply.  Application deadline:  April 5, 2022, or until filled.

Teaching Fellow positions are available in the following Professional Development School (PDS) participating districts:

7th grade Math, Owatonna Middle School

Industrial Technology Teacher (2022-2023 School Year)

Provide instruction to students in grades 9-12 in the area of Industrial Technology Education and work in collaboration with Agriculture teachers to promote our career pathways program connecting students to essential careers in Agriculture and Industrial Technology. Strong background in using data to drive instruction, working in collaboration with department members through a PLC model, and strong content knowledge desired.

Special Education Adaptive Physical Education Teacher (2022-2023 School Year)

Position Summary:
This is a district-wide position serving Early Childhood through grade 12. The Developmental Adapted Physical Education (DAPE) Teacher provides specialized instruction that includes skill development in physical fitness, motor fitness, fundamental motor skills and patterns, aquatics, dance, individual and group games, and sports.

The DAPE teacher, as part of the district-wide DAPE and physical education teams, participates in and conducts portions of the evaluations and observations to determine special education eligibility of students placed in the program, and conducts periodic assessments to determine educational progress of the students. The DAPE teacher assists in developing Individualized Education Program (IEP) Goals and Objectives/Benchmarks and participates in and/or conducts IEP Meetings for students in the program. They design appropriate educational programming for students and provides instruction in a Least Restricted Environment (LRE) by adapting or modifying the physical education curriculum and/or instruction to address the individualized abilities of each child.

Qualifications:
DAPE teaching licensure required.
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles and practices of a DAPE Teacher.
Thorough knowledge of DAPE practices and procedures.
Ability to demonstrate confidentiality.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, school staff, administrators, and outside agencies.
Ability to schedule and prioritize a variety of assignments independently.
