Health Services Coordinator (2021)

School Nurse- Part time. Minnesota New Country School. Reports to:  Personnel team, Board of Directors

Supervised by:  EdVisions Co-op, MNCS Board of Directors, and indirect supervision Personnel Team

Classification:  Non-Certified

Terms of Employment:  To be established by Personnel Team and Board of Directors annually.

Evaluation: Performance in this position will be evaluated annually by the personnel team in accordance with board policy.

Compensation: Reviewed and established annually by the Personnel Team and Board of Directors.

Job Summary:
Primary duties include reviewing student medical forms, overseeing the administration of prescription and OTC medications students have brought with them to the site, developing health action plans for students in need (Asthma, diabetes etc.), monitoring student illnesses, collaborating with special education for IEP reports, providing or coordinating health education opportunities for students and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Health Services:

    • Provide first aid and student care as needed

    • Conduct health evaluations for students (ie. vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings)

    • Develop care plans as needed for students/staff (ie. diabetic, seizure)

    • Provide follow-up evaluation on students as requested

    • Recommend corrective action when problems are identified

  • Records, Reports and Policies:

    • Track student health records, immunizations, health findings, and other relevant health data

    • Keep a log of all student visits to the health office

    • Document incident reports

    • Prepare health reports for administrators, board of education and health department

    • Develop policies, procedures and work standards for school health program as needed

    • Plan and implement school health management protocols

  • Collaboration for Services and Trainings:

  • Collaborate with other child-support agencies in designing and providing a school health program

  • Participate in special education assessments and 504 as needed

  • Coordinate professional and medical services essential to the school health program

  • Plan and/or conduct staff development on health-related topics including but not limited to: medication administration, Blood Borne Pathogens, First Aid, CPR, and OSHA/Employee Right-to-Know

  • Collaborate with advisors to promote health through classroom presentations, educational seminars, CPR/First Aid, sex education planning, health and wellness plans for staff and students,

  • Correspond with parents/families on health needs of children as needed

  • Connect families with various resources as necessary

  • Inform the appropriate staff of issues or concerns regarding student health

  • Provide a clean office environment in accordance to health regulations

  • Maintain inventory and security of school health supplies

  • Other duties as assigned

MNCS Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and carry out yearly professional development plan (PDP team)

  • Follow direction of EdVisions Coop and the Board of Directors

  • Serve on at least 1 site based management team or 1 PDP team

  • Refer to letter of employment for work schedule

  • Participate in Staff Evaluation Process and Self Evaluation Process

  • Follow established procedures for school purchases

  • Attend staff meetings and scheduled staff training and retreats

  • Request PTO days (absences etc.)  with personnel team

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises students in multiple educational settings

Qualifications and Requirements:

Education and Experience:
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) School Nurse License (if designated as the school nurse)

  • Minnesota Registered Nurse (if designated as the school nurse)

  • Minnesota Licensed Practical Nurse (if designated as the coordinator only and there is an RN or greater overseeing the program)

  • CPR Certified

Communication Skills:

  • Ability to build relationships

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment

  • Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals consistent with the duties of this position.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, and general public.

MN New Country School (MNCS) (Kindergarten-12th Grade Public Charter School) – Henderson, MN is located in Sibley County and currently enrolls approximately 220 students.  MN New Country School offers experiential learning in a teacher led, project-based learning environment.  Learning opportunities at MNCS emphasize exploring the world through project-based learning.

The ideal candidate will join a team of special education teachers, on-site school social worker and counselor, a special education administrative assistant to facilitate all due process paperwork, and highly involved related providers such as the school psychologist and occupational therapist

The Special Education teacher needed for this position will be licensed in a at least two areas (EDB and LD) or as an Academic Behavior Strategist and will provide specialized instruction for students with mild to moderate disabilities (LD, OHD, ASD, or EBD).

Between the two positions, candidates with a specialty in reading instruction and positive behavior management are encouraged to apply.

Sixth Grade Teacher

Teaching and Learning Coach

The Teaching and Learning Coach must understand how to analyze data and use results for instructional improvement. K-5 Owatonna Online Teacher

Ensure high levels of student learning through engaging, high quality virtual teaching.  Educator is innovative and serves as a facilitator to students’ learning.  Educator will collaborate with colleagues, families, and all stakeholders to help design a K-5 virtual school.  Educator is able to build strong partnerships with adults supporting student learning, and responsive to student needs academically, socially, and emotionally. Educator will be a learner, problem solver, and engage in on-site professional development.

 Qualifications:
Valid K-5 MN Teaching license is required.  An Ideal candidate will have a solid background in equity, technology, and ensuring all students learn at high levels.
