Special Education Teacher (School Year 2021-2022)

Position Summary:
This Special Education teacher position is part of Owatonna Middle School’s educational program. The teacher works within a team structure to provide specialized instruction to students with multicategorical disabilities. The team structure includes general education teachers, other special education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administration. The teacher may co-teach within the general education setting or teach individuals or small groups within the special education setting. The teacher plans jointly with the general education teacher to provide the accommodations and modifications necessary in order for the student to access and make progress within the general education curriculum.

Special Education Teacher, (DCD) School Year 2021-2022

Position Summary:
This Special Education teacher position is part of Owatonna High School’s Stride program. Stride classrooms provide specialized instruction to students with multicategorical cognitive delays who require a fuctional curriculum. Stride teachers work closely within a team structure which includes paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administration. Students also access general education courses as appropriate to their educational plan; the Stride teacher plans jointly with the general education teacher to provide the accommodations and modifications necessary in order for the student to access and make progress within the general education curriculum.

Stride teachers are highly relational, yet also possess strong skills in curriculum differentiation based on students’ developmental strengths and challenges. Lessons are individualized and delivered with creativity and enthusiasm in order to maximize student engagement and learning, with the goal of increasing student independence.

Physical Education/Health Teacher (School Year 2021-2022)

Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly motivated and collaborative teacher who is willing to utilize innovative teaching strategies to prepare students for college and careers.  Candidate must be willing to work with teams of teachers, be an excellent communicator, be highly organized, successful in building and maintaining strong relationships with all students, and data driven.  Provide instruction in physical education and health to students in grades 9-12.

Adult Education Teacher (School Year 2021-2022)

Position Summary:
Provide direct instruction to adult students in English as a Second Language, GED Preparation and Career Pathway Programming.  Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff on curriculum and content development, keeping student records and supporting volunteers.  Requires using inquiry and cooperative teaching strategies to deliver instruction and integrating technology into learning. A growing percentage of instruction and student interaction moving to online platforms, requiring staff to have highly development distance learning skills.

Qualifications:
Valid MN teaching license. Bi-lingual skills desired. Demonstrated use of 21st Century strategies and approaches to ensure all learners achieve at high levels.  Experience in utilizing inquiry and collaborative teaching/learning approaches to instruction across all GED, ESL and Career Pathway content areas preferred with documented training and/or experience in using ABE’s College and Career Readiness Standards for Adult Education (CCRS) and Academic, Career and Employability Skills (ACES) Transitions Integration Framework (TIF).  Previous experience in working with adult learners in an interactive, results-oriented environment preferred.  Strong communication and organizational skills.  Ability to be flexible and function well in a busy environment with high expectations for students and staff.  Ability to work as a teacher-leader in building a collaborative learning partnership highly prized in a successful candidate.  Digital literacy skills required, including integration of digital literacy into the student learning experience. Consistent and reliable attendance.

FTE/Schedule:
1.0 – Class Schedule and Program Calendar Available upon request.
Approximately 35 hours per week during core instructional calendar.
Monday through Thursday 8:00-4:00.
Monday and Tuesday evenings, 6-8:00 pm.
Occasional Friday commitments for Career Pathway instruction and professional development.

Media Specialist (School Year 2021-2022)

Position Summary:
The District Media Specialist provides leadership and guidance in promoting, supporting, and encouraging literacy, coordinating the resources and services of instructional media centers at schools district-wide, and assisting administrators, faculty, and students in the utilization of resources to enhance instruction and improve student achievement.

  • Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide leadership in the planning, management, and continuous improvement of the district’s instructional media services.
  • Coordinate, organize and direct the personnel and services essential to a unified district-wide program centered on students’ needs and the district’s instructional goals.
  • Initiate and maintain formal contacts with administration, faculty, and support staff in monitoring and sustaining the instructional media services, facilities, materials, and equipment.
  • Assure resources are available to students and faculty through a systematically developed and organized collection of instructional media materials, supplemented with resources available outside the school.
  • Assist administration in the development of the district media budget.
  • Communicate the philosophy and goals of the district’s instructional media program to district stakeholders.
  • Work with administration and other appropriate personnel in developing instructional media long-range goals and objectives for individual schools and the district.
  • Participate in the selection and training of support personnel and volunteers assigned to school media centers.
  • Work with the building principals to establish the protocols and procedures for school personnel and volunteers assigned to the media centers in order to provide the optimal learning environment.

High School Counselor – REACH Program (School Year 2021-2022)

Position Summary:
Owatonna High School has implemented a program designed to support students within the school with academic, social/emotional and personal supports.  The counselor provides ongoing guidance and daily tools for students to help within our systems of intervention and teach needed tools for success leading to college and career readiness.

Qualifications:
Valid Minnesota Guidance & Counseling or School Counselor licensure. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in School Guidance Counseling, or related field and moderate experience.  Master’s degree preferred.
