Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 13 School Districts and 3 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has one (1) Setting IV Behavior Program that provides programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. The Setting IV Behavior Program is located in Kellogg (SAIL). In addition, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (SPECTRUM). Our SPECTRUM program is located in Hokah, MN. Special Education Teacher
Location: Kellogg, MN

Position:
HVED is seeking one talented and motivated full-time long-term substitute Special Education Teacher to work in the SAIL Program until approximately the middle of December. The SAIL program is located in Kellogg, Minnesota and provides services and support to Kindergarten through High School students during the school day.

Qualifications:

Minnesota licensure in Special Education licensure preferred
Successful experience as a Special Education Teacher required
Experience and knowledge of writing, monitoring, and implementing IEPs strongly preferred
Experience in developing and implementing a variety of behavior strategies and interventions for effective programming
Maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), training provided by the district
Competencies:

Must possess the knowledge of MN standards and options for achieving those standards
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to parents, students, staff, and administrators
Ability to work with a team of professionals to meet the needs of students
Ability to collaborate with and provide direction to paraprofessionals
Proficient in meeting deadlines and managing daily record keeping

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

Accountable for facilitating learning, academic achievement and personal development by providing instruction to children and adolescents
Conduct assessments as part of the special education evaluation process: academic, observations and Functional Behavioral Assessments
Provide case management for students and maintain student records of services provided
Participates in IEP and in-take meetings
Utilizes technology to facilitate learning
Understands and implements the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population
Develop and implement positive behavior and social skills curriculum
Performs other related duties as assigned

EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION FACILITATOR

Job Description:
Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Early Childhood Special Education Facilitator. District Wide.  This position is for 200 contract days per fiscal year beginning immediately upon hire.  Leads building level Special Education team and partners with the Early Childhood Coordinator to plan programming and staffing related to special education students. Facilitates early childhood Child Find responsibilities in partnership with the Early Childhood Coordinator. Responsible for receiving and tracking of all referrals, including those through the state Help Me Grow system, assignment of evaluations, and assisting with student placement decisions.  Responsible for due process training and oversight and early childhood special education teacher evaluations. Participate in regional and state level ECSE meetings, complete state COS reporting, facilitate ESY programming and staffing, and assist with kindergarten transition planning.

POSITION:
This position is full-time with a full benefit package that provides data entry support to the School Psychologists, clerical support to the SPECTRUM Program and other data entry and clerical support needed for other HVED programs or Cabinet needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

Provide administrative support to the School Psychologist, to include, but not limited to the following:

Provide administrative support to the School Psychologist, to include, but not limited to the following:
Data entry for School Psychologist student evaluations.
Managing the school psychologist online platform accounts
Provide data entry and clerical support to school psychologists as needed.
Provide support to Data Management/School Improvement Coordinator, to include, but not limited to the following:
Management of district and school accounts
Updates to student and school accounts
Communication with district personnel
Assist with data entry
Provide administrative support to the SPECTRUM Program to include, but not limited to the following:
Provide clerical support to the SPECTRUM Program as needed.
Act as a backup paraprofessional for breaks and lunches (when trained) during the student day when needed
Onsite at the SPECTRUM program – average three days per week, or as needed.
in CPI for use as needed.
Provide administrative support to other HVED programs to include, but not limited to the following:
Scan paper documents for electronic documents storage.
Approve paraprofessionals timesheets in TimeClock+
Assists staff with HelloSign electronic signature system
Assist with approving Company Mileage for staff that travel.
Secondary responsibilities may include substitute transportation driver as needed within the programs.
Other duties as assigned.

Job Description: .8 FTE College & Career Readiness Exploratory Teacher at the Faribault Middle School.  College and Career Readiness prepares students for Leadership and Lifeskills.  The course actively engages all students in real-world, relevant, and academically challenging experiences in a safe and positive environment for what they need to do to be successful in high school, what do they want to do after high school.  The course explores if a student wants to go to college and what do they need to do to be gainfully employed.  This position commences on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
