ALC Special Education Teacher

Position Title: ALC Teacher
Location:  Minnesota State College Southeast, Winona, MN

Position Purpose
Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented, driven Alternative Learning Center (ALC) Teacher.  This is a .5 teaching position and program created to collaborate with Minnesota State College Southeast to provide an opportunity for secondary students to take college courses at Minnesota State College Southeast while achieving their high school diploma. This .5 teaching position will provide the opportunity to teach the students high school credits while also scheduling and motivating students in technical and community college courses. This program and ALC classroom will be within Minnesota State College Southeast, located in Winona, MN.

Essential Performance ResponsibilitiesFacilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum
Collaborate and work with Minnesota State College Southeast to provide the best growth and opportunities for high school students
Create a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment that is conducive to individualized and small group learning
Provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes
Understand and utilize Odysseyware and other online learning curriculum for students
Other responsibilities assigned by the supervisor

Special Education Teacher
Location: Kellogg, MN

Position:
HVED is seeking one talented and motivated full-time long-term substitute Special Education Teacher to work in the SAIL Program until approximately the middle of December. The SAIL program is located in Kellogg, Minnesota and provides services and support to Kindergarten through High School students during the school day.

Qualifications:

Minnesota licensure in Special Education licensure preferred
Successful experience as a Special Education Teacher required
Experience and knowledge of writing, monitoring, and implementing IEPs strongly preferred
Experience in developing and implementing a variety of behavior strategies and interventions for effective programming
Maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), training provided by the district
Competencies:

Must possess the knowledge of MN standards and options for achieving those standards
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to parents, students, staff, and administrators
Ability to work with a team of professionals to meet the needs of students
Ability to collaborate with and provide direction to paraprofessionals
Proficient in meeting deadlines and managing daily record keeping

EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION FACILITATOR

POSITION:
This position is full-time with a full benefit package that provides data entry support to the School Psychologists, clerical support to the SPECTRUM Program and other data entry and clerical support needed for other HVED programs or Cabinet needs.

Act as a backup paraprofessional for breaks and lunches (when trained) during the student day when needed
Onsite at the SPECTRUM program – average three days per week, or as needed.
in CPI for use as needed.
Provide administrative support to other HVED programs to include, but not limited to the following:
Scan paper documents for electronic documents storage.
Approve paraprofessionals timesheets in TimeClock+
Assists staff with HelloSign electronic signature system
Assist with approving Company Mileage for staff that travel.
Secondary responsibilities may include substitute transportation driver as needed within the programs.
