SAIL Special Education Teacher for 21-22 SY

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 13 School Districts and 2 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has two (2) Setting IV Behavior Programs that provide programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. The Setting IV Behavior Programs are located in Kellogg (SAIL) and Hokah (ACHIEVE). In addition, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (SPECTRUM). Our SPECTRUM program is located in Caledonia. Special Edutation Teacher for Grades K-12
Location: Kellogg, MN

Position:
HVED is seeking one FTE talented and motivated full-time Special Education Teacher to work in the SAIL  Program. The SAIL  program is located in Kellogg, Minnesota and provides services and support to Kindergarten through High School students during the school day.

Qualifications: Minnesota licensure in Special Education licensure preferred
Successful experience as a Special Education Teacher required
Experience and knowledge of writing, monitoring, and implementing IEPs strongly preferred
Experience in developing and implementing a variety of behavior strategies and interventions for effective programming
Maintain certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), training provided by the district
Competencies:

Must possess the knowledge of MN standards and options for achieving those standards
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to parents, students, staff, and administrators
Ability to work with a team of professionals to meet the needs of students
Ability to collaborate with and provide direction to paraprofessionals
Proficient in meeting deadlines and managing daily record keeping
Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

Accountable for facilitating learning, academic achievement and personal development by providing instruction to children and adolescents
Conduct assessments as part of the special education evaluation process: academic, observations and Functional Behavioral Assessments
Provide case management for students and maintain student records of services provided
Participates in IEP and in-take meetings
Utilizes technology to facilitate learning
Understands and implements the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population
Develop and implement positive behavior and social skills curriculum
Performs other related duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to tolerate sudden jarring movement.
Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may require wearing of personal protective equipment.
Locations are generally moderately noisy.

Elementary Online Learning Teacher

General Definition of Work
The Elementary Online Learning Teacher(s) will create a positive online classroom environment and instructional program fostering student success in accordance with Falcons Online Academy mission; preparing online lessons, instructing and accessing students through an online learning management system; performing all related reporting duties; and communicating with students, parents and other staff accordingly. These positions may be instructing in an in-person or fully online mode, depending on student enrollment and elementary programmatic needs.  Position(s) will be located in a building with access to necessary resources to be part of a successful program.

Essential Functions:Develop course content, format, structure and schedule for class.
Plan, organize and implement classroom materials and curriculum.
Prepare lesson plans and activities, deliver instruction in both synchronous and asynchronous modes.
Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, mentorships, collaborative learning and demonstrations.
Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments in order to evaluate student progress.
Communicate with students, family members, and colleagues concerning student academic and behavioral progress.
Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations in a timely and confidential manner.
Collect, analyze and maintain data on individual student achievement.
Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with building and district staff.
Attend staff meetings, serve on committees, and attend workshops or in service professional development activities.

Secondary Online Learning Teacher

Family and Community Engagement Specialist

General Definition of Work

The Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Specialists will specialize in working directly with schools, families, and communities to cultivate a generational learning experience that empowers educators, parents, and community stakeholders to sustain family engagement and improve student performance in their Network. The FACE Specialist will represent FPS in a positive manner and implement cross-functional strategies in the areas of Family and Community Engagement, Teaching and Learning, and Student Achievement. Work is performed under the supervision of the school building Principal and/or Program Director. Position will be scheduled to work 210 days per year at a rate of $25.50 per hour.

Essential Functions

Interacts with students and families to enhance and support the student’s education experience and ensure success.Arranges and makes home visits to provide or collect information.
Participates in school meetings and/or conferences as needed.
Consults with teachers specializing in English as a Second Language as required.
Support, as needed, during testing and IEP meetings regarding minority students with special needs.
Provides interpretation and translation of documents as needed.
Participates in and assists with development of programs to provide diversity training and awareness for students and staff.
Assists with programs to promote a better understanding between cultural and ethnic groups within the community.
Organize monthly meetings at building sites to provide parents with leadership skills to help improve student academics.
Proactively outreach and engage parents and community members to attend monthly meetings.
Attend community events/festivals/meetings/workshops facilitated by schools, community organizations that help drive student achievement.
As needed, actively participate in district-wide initiatives including monthly Board Meetings.
Works daily hours that complement after school or out of school time programming as needed and directed by school building Principal or Director, and Cabinet members.
Collaborate with FPS departments and external partners to provide content-based and research-based parent and family workshops.
Assist cabinet members, school principals, coordinators, teachers, and staff in channeling engagement in ways that support and add value to student achievement.
Build relationships and establish ongoing communication with building leaders to help increase their school’s parent and family engagement efforts and student achievement.
Provide excellent customer service experience for parents, families, schools, stakeholders, and community members to support a collaborative learning environment.
Identify and attend professional development.
Organize, analyze, and report on school-and community-level data as established by Leadership’s metrics and goals.
Other duties as assigned.
