Summary of Job Duties: The Director of Educational Technology & Innovation is the leader in the development of innovative technologies that support teaching, learning, student development and organizational operations. The Director will develop and oversee district-wide technology policies, procedures, budgets, services and facilities while working collaboratively with administration to promote effective strategies for integrating technology into the curriculum and maintaining the digital infrastructure of the district.
Essential Functions:
Provide leadership in recommending and advocating for technology resources that will transform and support instructional learning experiences.
Analyze student achievement and recommend changes and/or adjustments related to technology resources and processes; share effective technical and instructional strategies with teachers for the effective use of technology in student learning.
Lead planning, implementing, and evaluating effective use of technology for adults and students in a standards-aligned, rigorous and differentiated PreK-Adult instructional programs.
Lead all phases of evaluation, procurement, implementation and training related to data communication networks, email, telephones, voicemails, internet services, web pages, student data systems, office productivity systems, and instructional software technology.
Disseminate technology-related information throughout the district via news bulletins, electronic mail, presentations at district and building level staff meetings, etc.
Maintain a continuous improvement cycle that leads to improved alignment and impact of technology tools supporting rigorous and standards aligned learning.
Develop, promote and maintain departmental goals that are in line with District goals and objectives.
Model the effective use of technology tools and encourage appropriate use of all technology resources.
Maintain up-to-date information concerning new ideas, new equipment and new programs that will and can support the goals of the District.
Lead the ongoing assessment and evaluation of the technology programming throughout the District.
Lead the technology department team to design, implement, integrate and/or maintain technology resources across all areas.
Develop and manage department budget; lead bid process for technology equipment and supplies to be purchased, coordinate requests for hardware/software and staff development.
Establish and maintain relationships with outside vendors supplying equipment, software and services.
Provide effective leadership and support in obtaining, installing and using technology resources.
Actively participate in professional development activities to improve on best practices for technology and innovation in an educational setting.
