Special Education Emotional or Behavior Disorders (EBD) Teacher Grades 4-8

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 13 School Districts and 2 Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota: Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED also has two (2) Setting IV Behavior Programs that provide programming for students in grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. The Setting IV Behavior Programs are located in Kellogg (SAIL) and Hokah (ACHIEVE, opening in September 2020). In addition, HVED provides programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (SPECTRUM). Our SPECTRUM program is located in Caledonia. HVED offers an Alternative Learning Center housed in MN College SE located in Winona, MN. EBD Teacher for Grades 4-8
Location: Hokah, MN

Position: 
HVED is seeking a 1.0 FTE talented and motivated full-time Special Education EBD Teacher for Grades 4-8 to work in our ACHIEVE Program.  The ACHIEVE program is located in Hokah, Minnesota and provides services and support to Kindergarten through High School students during the school day.

Responsibilities Include (but not limited to): 

Accountable for facilitating learning, academic achievement and personal development by providing instruction to children and adolescents
Conduct assessments as part of the special education evaluation process: academic, observations and Functional Behavioral Assessments
Provide case management for students and maintain student records of services provided
Participates in IEP and in-take meetings
Utilizes technology to facilitate learning
Understands and implements the varying learning styles and the needs of a diverse student population
Develop and implement positive behavior and social skills curriculum
Performs other related duties as assigned

Employment Start Date: 

School Year 2020-2021

Working Conditions:

Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to tolerate sudden jarring movement.
Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions and exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may require wearing of personal protective equipment.
Locations are generally moderately noisy.

Essential Functions:

Coordinates the day to day activities of the business office to ensure an orderly workflow.
Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, local, state and federal statutes and board policy.
Assists in the supervision and coordination of business office staff.
Coordinates the budgeting process.
Monitors the budget facilitation.
Aids staff with balances and codes throughout the year.
Manages financial reporting.
Prepares and arranges for the internal auditing of accounts.
Coordinates the preparation of the required annual external audit of district accounts.
Assists in the implementation and coordination of the district’s accounting functions.
Maintains the Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS) coding system; trains staff on the use of the coding system and financial software.
Monitors and communicates cash flow needs.
Assists with making financial projections and forecasting estimates.
Participates in leadership and collaborative interdepartmental meetings as a representative and member of the department.
Completes other duties as assigned.

Job Description:  The goal of the Family Literacy Specialist position is to strengthen the collaboration between families and educators to support children’s literacy development.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with families in promoting literacy
Help create positive, goal orientated relationships between families and educators
Promote best practice and evidence-based programming
Incorporate families’ culture and language into school-based programs
Implement family literacy programs
Conduct outreach and recruit volunteers and participants for various initiatives
Lead family literacy professional development for teachers and school staff
Lead Parent Engagement Workshops
Evaluate and assess program effectiveness
Coordinate Family Literacy Nights
Provide literacy-supporting resources
Liaise with community partners to coordinate service delivery
Collaborate with literacy coach, school psychologist, social worker, counselor, and other support services staff to build home-school literacy connections
Create reports necessary to comply with MDE CLSD grant requirements
