Elementary Special Ed. Paraprofessional

Student Life Director

This is a full-time school-year position at the Minnesota State Academies (school year plus some additional workdays).  The Student Life Director provides leadership and direction for MSA’s Student Life programs on both campuses (MSAB and MSAD), ensuring that programming is designed and implemented consistent with the Academies’ mission and strategic plans.

The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, manage, direct, and supervise Student Life services on two campuses (MSAB and MSAD) for students who are deaf/hard-of-hearing, deafblind, or blind/visually-impaired, which includes, but is not limited to: student dormitories, residential transportation, recreation and after school programs, athletics, student organizations, and programming in support of students’ educational growth. This position is also responsible to manage student discipline campus-wide during the evening hours, ensuring that services are provided in a safe and positive environment.

Work Shift/Work Hours:  Varies –Standard hours are mostly during the day shift, but evening hours are needed frequently (student activities, observation of staff, responses to student/staff needs)

Days of Work: Monday – Friday – Some weekends may be required (student/school events)

Salary Range: $36.10 – $52.26 / hourly

Director of Curriculum and Educational Programs

This is a twelve-month (year-round) full-time position at the Minnesota State Academies in Faribault, Minnesota.   The Director of Curriculum and Educational Programs at MSA manages the Academies’ administration, operations, strategic planning, human resources, communication, budgetary needs and requirements, and coordination of services/instruction related to curriculum and educational programs at MSA with focus with deaf, hard-of-hearing, deafblind, blind, and visually impaired students, including those with additional learning and physical needs.

The Director also ensures compliance with the students’ Individual Education Programs by providing staff with curriculum, resources, and training necessary to provide required instruction and services.

Responsibilities include:

1) Maintaining and extending contacts and partnerships with schools for the deaf and/or blind nationwide; state agencies, other educational institutions; school districts and cities statewide; and other residential educational facilities to maximize the Academies’ access to best practices in D/HH and B/VI instruction

2) Collaborates with administrative team and educational staff to formulate and implement

strategic plans to extend and improve education for all students at MSA.

3) Development, implementation, and support for curricular and instructional changes to ensure high expectations and supports for high quality educational experiences for our students;

4) Support the Board of MSA in carrying out the policies and annual school goals, including regular reports and information sharing;

5) Collaborates with other directors/supervisors to establish appropriate instructional programming that provides high quality instruction to students who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, deafblind, blind, or visually impaired in order to help them progress academically and socially through the implementation of MSA’s educational program and components of each student’s Individual Education Program (IEP) or Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP).

6) Maintaining, developing, and expanding curricular content, resources, and training available to MSA teachers, support staff, paraprofessionals, and students/families.

7) Developing and supervising professional development opportunities for MSA staff.

8) Oversees and supports the accreditation processes for both schools.

9) Guides enrollment process to ensure support for prospective students, families, and school districts.

Work-based Learning Coordinator

Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented Work Based Learning Coordinator to serve multiple school districts within the Education District.

Essential Responsibilities Include (but not limited to):

  • Instructs students and develops work experiences for students with disabilities
  • Present competencies as directed by Minnesota Department of Education
  • Maintains existing vocational opportunities while developing new community partnerships
  • Promotes student learning in self-awareness/advocacy, disability awareness, and transition services
  • Act as an essential team member of the transitions program by participating in team meetings, IEP meetings and overall positive team culture
  • Work with other staff members in implementing accommodations and modifications
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on students as required by law, policies, and administrative regulations
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Licensure as a Special Education Teacher required
  • Licensure in Work Based Learning or enrolled in Work Based Learning program required
  • Experience working with transition age students preferred
  • Experience arranging community vocational opportunities preferred
  • Must be able to work in team decision-making situations
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication and consulting skills
  • Ability to use technology as a management and instruction tool
  • Valid driver’s license

Travel Requirements: Travel between member districts is required.
Working Conditions:

  • Office, lifting, sitting, standing, pushing, pulling, keyboarding, etc.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Salary Range:

$52,443 – $85,862 (based on education and experience). Full benefits package available.
