Mental Health Practitioner/Behavior Specialist

Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) is seeking a talented, self-motivated Mental Health Practitioner/Behavior Specialist to join the Mental Health Practitioner/Behavior Specialist team. This position is trained and competent in designing and implementing positive behavioral interventions and support to member district teachers and/or HVED’s Level IV Behavior and Autism program(s). This position will serve multiple school districts within the Education District. District and program assignments are based on a combination of geographic location, student caseloads and district needs, as well as team and employee preferences.

  • Must possess ability to coordinate with others and lead teams when necessary
  • Knowledgeable in interpreting and supporting Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs)
  • Familiar with PBSP (Positive Behavior Support Plan) and BIPS (Behavior Intervention plans)

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Provide classroom and behavioral supports for students through analyzing data to identify inappropriate behaviors, planning, implementing and tracking individual behavioral plan.
  • Identifying barriers to successful transition and facilitating transition plans.
  • Assist IEP teams in problem-solving and creating plans to manage behaviors that affect a student’s learning.
  • Become a certified CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Trainer and facilitate CPI initial and refresher courses for HVED employees and member district employees.
  • Provide a comprehensive approach to behavior management that includes evaluation, data collection, interventions and regular monitoring to produce socially significant improvement in children’s behavior.
  • A Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) serving Hiawatha Valley Education District’s Level IV Behavior and/or Autism Program(s) will create a therapy plan by providing direct therapy with individual and group students, complete Diagnostic Assessments, collaborate with team to establish and build Children’s Therapeutic Services and Supports (CTSS) program, and facilitate ITP and IEP meetings in collaboration with case manager(s).

Teacher (Adult Basic Education)

School Principal

The Minnesota Department of Corrections is seeking a licensed school principal for the high school at the Minnesota Correctional Facility-Red Wing. The position will be responsible for the following:

  • Supervise and coordinate all academic, career technical, higher education, and life skills education programs.
  • Establish a school-wide vision of commitment to high standards and the success of all students.
  • Coordinate the provision of student counseling and intervention services to promote students’ academic, career and social/emotional development.
  • Exercise supervisory authority to administer personnel practices, directives, and instructions in the management of human resources.
  • Provide effective leadership and management of education programs, use technology to deliver a wider variety of curriculum to a wider base of students, provide the necessary behavioral and social support services that address the individual needs of all students, and ensure incarcerated youth are provided with access to the same educational and career technical services that are available in the community.
  • Efficiently develop, manage, allocate, and monitor budget processes.

Essential Functions:

– Coordinates the day to day activities of the business office to ensure an orderly workflow; ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, local, state and federal statutes and board policy; assists in the supervision and coordination of business office staff.
– Coordinates the budgeting process; monitors the budget facilitation;  aids staff with balances and codes throughout the year; manages financial reporting.
– Prepares and arranges for the internal auditing of accounts.
– Coordinates the preparation of the required annual external audit of district accounts.
– Assists in the implementation and coordination of the district’s accounting functions.
– Maintains the Uniform Financial Accounting and Reporting Standards (UFARS) coding system; trains staff on the use of the coding system and financial software.
– Assists with making projections and forecasting estimates.
– Attends various meetings as a representative and member of the department.
– Assists with financial system and upkeep.
