Assistant Fall Strength Training Coach

Position Summary:
Act as the Fall Assistant Strength Training Coach for the High School Athletic program.

Supervise weight training and conditioning programs for all men’s and women’s sports at Owatonna High School for in season, off season, and pre-season.
Operate and maintain the weight room at Owatonna High School.
Be responsible for a working relationship with coaching staff.
Assist with the coordinated weight training and conditioning program, in cooperation with Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Monitor all rules and regulations that are to be followed by all users of the Owatonna High School weight room.
Assist with the maintenance of attendance forms, work out schedules, and progress charts for each athlete/athletic team.
Oversee the safety and hygiene condition of the weight room facility.
Enforce discipline and sportsmanship behavior at all times and establish and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
Work in cooperation with the athletic trainers in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and appropriate valid Minnesota certification(s) and coaching endorsement.
Demonstrate interest in an aptitude for performing the task(s) of Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Have a working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of lifting.
Experience and/or expertise in the area of strength training and fitness programming for diverse populations.
Possess motivational abilities.
Evidence of ability to interact positively with student athletes, colleagues, and the public.
Evidence of organizational skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
Consistent and reliable attendance.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be used by the athletes to participate in their particular sport(s) is preferred.  Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds), reaching, squatting, climbing stairs, kneeling, and moving equipment/boxes up to 50 lbs.

Early Childhood Educational Assistant – Interim

Position Description:
Assist Early Childhood teachers with performing duties necessary to meet the educational needs of a preschool toddler classroom by prepping lesson plans and activities as directed by the classroom teacher. The Educational Assistant’s primary focus is on making necessary preparations for meeting the student learning needs through the safety and arrangement of furniture, accessibility to learning and use of physical resources, support spaces and daily lesson materials.

Position Requirements:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous successful experience working with children and adults in a preschool setting. Knowledge of Minnesota’s Early Indicators of Progress standards preferred. Current first aid and CPR certificate, or willingness to obtain within first eight-weeks of employment. Strong organizational skills to maintain a warm and welcoming learning environment, as well as communication skills to ensure that student and teacher preparation needs are met. Ability to be flexible in meeting the instructional calendar, as well as responding to instructional practices and approaches within a dynamic delivery of early learning skills.  A successful candidate must be able to foster a team environment, while being able to self-direct and anticipate work responsibilities once instructions are provided by the classroom teacher, program team leader or administrator. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.

Language Skills:
Read, write, and comprehend English-based instructions, short correspondences, and memos.  Strong oral communication skills necessary to establish and maintain preschool learning environment.

Physical Demands:
Mobility and agility to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds, work on the floor and at preschool-sized learning centers which will include physical activity such as kneeling, stooping, crouching and crawling. Must have sufficient mobility to walk, run and navigate stairs. Hearing, speech, and sight are required. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Other Skills & Abilities:
Maintain flexibility and model a positive attitude in day-to-day dealing with staff and students. Maintain the confidentiality of all information regarding students. Perform duties within a tight daily schedule and with an awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Strong digital literacy skills will be needed.

Schedule:
Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM
For balance of ECFE Program calendar, approximately 7 weeks.  Staff meeting held one Friday per month from 12:30 PM – 2:00 PM.  Program calendar and position description available upon request. Possible additional hours based on enrollments and potential for sub opportunities.

Coding & Robotics Long Term Substitute Teacher

Candidate will teach 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in a nine week course designed to give students hands-on experience in problem-solving, teamwork, and project-based learning.  The course encompasses units:  Design and Modeling, The Science of Technology, Automation and Robotics, Lego Mindstorm, Robolab, and Lego Robotics. This position commences immediately upon hire through June 4, 2018.
