Essential Functions: The High School Principal serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of the school, planning and directing the instruction programs by ensuring the curriculum, instructional, strategies and assessment of student progress are coherent components in the teaching and learning process, administering school buildings and grounds operations, participating in staff, student and community activities, organizing, directing, evaluating and supervising assigned certified and classified staff, and related work as apparent or assigned. In addition they assist with the following duties: -Provide leadership in the development of the learning program; communicate with teachers to assure instructional programs are meetings the needs of the students and district. -Provide leadership in the development of the organizational pattern, curriculum and instructional program located at the school site. -Creates and maintain the health, safety and welfare of students, staff and parents; administers discipline in accordance with district policies within building and grounds. -Provide supervision and conduct evaluation of school district employees assigned to the school site. -Participate and contribute to district level administration; serves as a communication link between site and district -Supervise student assessment, placement, behavior and attendance. -Plan and direct the business operation of the site. -In cooperation with teachers, formulate and maintain a staff development plan that addresses the needs of the school site. -Facilitate parent, student and/or staff advisory groups. -Facilitate communication between school and home to promote parent involvement in the educational programs. -Facilitate external relationship building by developing programming that addresses specific and unique needs of local students. -Attend all regular board meetings to represent the building and grounds for the district. Special Education Teacher
Teach and case manage students receiving special education services at New Dominion School (NDS). NDS is a contracted non-public school operating in conjunction with Gerard Academy, a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents. Responsibilities include creating a positive and supportive classroom climate, engaging in a variety of instructional techniques and behavior management strategies that insure effective implementation of student IEP’s, assess educational and treatment needs of the students, provide instruction on assigned subject areas, and provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
Substitute Teacher
Teach students with emotional and behavior disorders within a school setting for grades K-12, operated in conjunction with a residential treatment facility for children and adolescents. Responsibilities include creating a positive and supportive classroom climate, engaging in a variety of instructional techniques and behavior management strategies that insure effective implementation of student IEP’s, administering lesson plans, providing instruction on assigned subject areas, and providing crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed.
Speech Language Pathologist
This is a ten-month position which follows the school calendar. This position will function as the Speech-Language Pathologist on the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf (MSAD) campus. Duties include: * Helping students develop skills and confidence in communicating with other individuals * Teaching spoken English to children who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing specializing in normal language development * Evaluate children who have difficulty with communication * Participate in the IEP process by attending meetings and writing IEP goals and objectives based on evaluation results * Collaborate with teachers and other professionals regarding the communication needs of students * Provide treatment for students including, but not limited to, the following: articulation, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC), dysphagia, cognition, pragmatic language/social skills, language delay/disorder, speechreading, voice, and fluency * Monitor use and basic maintenance of amplification devices * Assist in Medical Assistance billing There is an on-going need for qualified applicants in this classification.
