Physical Therapist

Position Summary:

  • Under the direction of the Director of Special Services, the Physical Therapist provides services to children with special needs, ages birth to 21, in order for them to benefit from their program of special education instruction.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct and indirect physical therapy services as specified in each students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) plan.
  • Consults with teachers, school administrators, parents and others as appropriate, regarding students’ gross motor development.
  • Assesses the gross motor skills including the environmental accessibility of students referred for a special education evaluation.  Helps determine the need for environmental adaptations and physical therapy.
  • Assesses and makes environmental and other adaptations to allow students to access and benefit from their program of specialized instruction.
  • Provides training to special education paraprofessionals, and others as appropriate, in carrying out day-to-day activities designed to enhance the motor functioning of students.
  • Maintains accurate record of therapy sessions, consultations and other pertinent activities.
  • Supports parents of children with disabilities in understanding the role of physical therapy services in schools and how to access school or community resources.
  • Adapts, modifies or recommends specialized equipment to facilitate student performance.
  • Supports classroom personnel to effectively use classroom based technology and assistive technologies to facilitate student success.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements :

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited school with a current physical therapy license from the Minnesota State Board of Physical Therapy is required.

Assistant Principal – High School

Juvenile Detention Center Teacher

Caledonia Public Schools is searching for a teacher to run the Houston County Juvenile Detention Center learning program. The hire will work from the Houston County Juvenile Detention Center at the Houston County Courthouse. The Houston County JDC can hold up to eight students for up to eight days (school days). Special Education licensure is preferred, but not required. The teacher/District will apply for the Cross-Curricular Delivery Permission required by the Professional Educator Licensing Standards Board. The Houston County JDC School will follow the Caledonia Area Public School Calendar. Part-Time GED Instructor

Job Description: Faribault Public Schools Adult Education is seeking a part-time GED instructor to work with our amazing students at the Faribault Education Center. This position follows the district calendar, with optional summer hours available. The hours for this position are flexible and based on the applicants preferences and availability; but must operate Monday – Thursday between the hours of 8:30 am – 5:30 pm (approximately 6-19 hours per week).

Essential Functions:

Align instruction to meet students’ goals and needs
Assess student progress with TABE assessments and GED practice tests
Assign study materials to each individual based on their goals and plan
Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles
Build relationships with students and find ways to motivate each individual to reach their full potential
Keep accurate records and student attendance
Participate in staff meetings, instructional collaborative time, & professional development
Manage classroom and open learning labs to facilitate learning and retention of students
Maintain levels of training criteria established by the Minnesota Department of Education

Special Education Teacher
