Position Information:
As a teacher dean and member of the building’s administrative team, assume general responsibility for the education of assigned students. Serves as the educational liaison between the school and the students, helping to ensure the academic and social success of the students by assessing their collective and individual needs. The Dean implements, supervises and assists with the evaluation of programs to provide high expectations and positive support for student achievement, discipline, and attendance and coordinates efforts to develop and maintain effective relationships between the school and families.
- Provide support services for students in the areas of academics, school rules and other matters.
- Assist in developing programs to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
- Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations.
- Manage student supervision issues and enforce student behavioral expectations; documenting student behavior through the student information system.
- This position is in the teacher bargaining unit.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid Minnesota teaching license for middle school, high school, or K-12.
- MN Administrative Licensure or currently pursuing or willing to pursue Administrative licensure is preferred but not required.
- At least five years experience in the education field
- Excellent communication skills to include problem-solving skills with students and adults.
- Excellent human relations skills and demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with students, families and staff.
- Demonstrated ethical behavior and confidentiality required.
- Demonstrated self-starter. Ability to work independently.
