ELL Program offers English instruction to students whose first language is not English. The principal duty of the ELL teacher is to instruct students in English and help them acquire language skills to function meaningfully in mainstream classes. The ELL teacher is also expected to:
- Test and assess students’ English skills to determine placement and/or exit from service
- Assist in scheduling ELL classes
- Maintain student files and record relevant information onto the district database
- Provide progress reports and/or grades to parents and mainstream staff
- Address the needs of ELL students with various language capabilities
- Teach students in small group settings
- Meet and communicate with parents and mainstream staff
- Virtually meet and teach students who are distance online learning.
