District Description

Redwood Area School District is a progressive school district located in Redwood Falls, a community of approximately 5,000 people in southwestern Minnesota. We serve approximately 1,100 students in grades K-12 from the communities of Redwood Falls, Morton, Belview, and the surrounding area. In addition, we also provide Early Childhood Family Education classes, Cardinal Kids Club childcare for 3 and 4-year olds, School Age Child Care, Early Childhood Special Education and an Alternative Learning High School Program.

Redwood Area Schools embrace ethnic and socioeconomic diversity. Approximately 25% of our enrollment is comprised of American Indian students and our relationship with the Lower Sioux Community and Tribal Council is strong. Approximately 45% of our students qualify for free/reduced lunch.

Our school sites include Reede Gray Elementary, which serves students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 4. At the same location is the Ehlers Early Childhood Center that houses Early Childhood Family Education, preschool, childcare and Head Start. Redwood Valley Middle School/High School serves students in Grades 5-8 in the Middle School and Grades 9-12 in the High School.

Special features of the Middle School/High School campus include the Estebo Performing Arts Center, 2400 seat gymnasium, Redwood Area Community Center (includes indoor running track, field house, state of the art fitness center, conference center and ice arena). The outdoor athletic complex includes softball fields, state of the art track and field complex, tennis courts, golf practice range, athletic practice fields and outdoor environmental learning center.

The school board recently added the “Estebo Career and Technical Training Center” to the high school facility. This facility is “state of the art” and designed to educate our students and adults in the areas of health care, construction trades, robotics, agriculture and manufacturing. Significant relationships are emerging to fully utilize this facility.
