POSITION AVAILABLE: Special Education Teacher
POSITION LOCATION: Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC SC), with placement at Project SEARCH in Worthington, MN.
POSITION SUMMARY: To identify a student’s strengths, interests and abilities related to job skill acquisition, job development and placement; to facilitate job placement within an appropriate community job site consistent with the students interests and skills; to determine and refer to appropriate community support services for training and successful employment; to work with local business and industry to meet their employment needs.
· Recruit appropriate students with disabilities for Project SEARCH program (ages 18-22, last year of high school)
· Attend IEP meetings
· Identify internship sites within the host business so that students can participate in a variety of work experiences in order to build marketable, competitive skills leading to employment.
· Develop internship sites within the host business that will increase job specific skills, work quality and productivity.
· Instruct students to learn employability skills such as communication, problem solving, and teamwork, grooming, budgeting and self-advocacy.
· Provide universal design in the accommodations and adaptations needed at work sites.
· Develop work portfolios for each student to include credentialing of skills attained, letter of recommendations from internship sites, etc.
· Coordinate job coach activities.
· Develop linkages among other agencies to assure effective transition from school to work or from current placement to successful community employment.
· Refer students to appropriate agencies for support and services related to successful employment.
· Develop Summary of Performance Plans with each exiting student.
· Be knowledgeable of current “best practices” in the field of supported employment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Designs and implements appropriate educational and/or behavioral programs for students to meet specific needs and goals of the students; conducts periodic assessments to determine educational progress of the students; conducts and/or participates in IEP meetings for students in the program; generally provides direction, training, and work assignments to paraprofessionals/job coaches on a daily basis if appropriate; adheres to all due process procedures and compliance requirements; plans work-based learning skills instruction in conjunction with the job coach in daily scheduling of students within their internship departments.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required. MN licensure as Special Education Teacher from MN Department of Education is required, must be willing/able to obtain Work Based Learning license. Valid driver’s license required.
CONTRACT/SALARY: 185-day contract for 2024-2025 school year. Beginning salary dependent upon education, qualifications and experience. Excellent fringe benefits, including an opportunity for tuition assistance. Position to begin August, 2024, with an opportunity for up to 4 additional planning days during the 2023-2024 school year. POSITION LOCATION: Southwest West Central Service Cooperative (SWWC) with placement near the Willmar, MN area.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR) assesses students with various physical, neurological, sensory and perceptual impairments to determine their functional skills within their current educational placement. The OTR is responsible for developing, implementing, and/or monitoring therapeutic programs and providing consultation to school staff and parents to maximize student skills.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: To provide Occupational Therapy services to Birth to age 21 students.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Master’s Degree and OTR licensure from MN Board of Occupational Therapy & NBCOT accreditation.
CONTRACT/SALARY: Long-term substitute OT position working approximately 89 days beginning around 02/01/2024. Beginning salary dependent upon education, qualifications and experience.

Upper Elementary Special Education Teacher (SLD)
Worthington Intermediate School is seeking a Specific Learning Disability (SLD) Teacher to join our Special Education Department. The candidate should have a current ABS, EBD, DCD or SLD Special Education license in the state of Minnesota (or be actively pursuing such licensure.) Applicants should be patient and kind; understand case management, IEP development, knowledge of systematic academic and behavior interventions and be willing to be trained on Sped Forms. Experience with iPads in the classroom would be beneficial.
