The Richfield Public School District is now accepting applications for a full time STEM Specialist beginning the 2016-2017 school year. The Richfield STEM School Specialist will work with K-5 regular education classrooms students to provide Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics instruction that extends the work of the regular classroom teacher. This may also include covering MN social studies standards. New teacher workshop begins 8/23/16. We are located in the heart of the Twin Cities Metropolitan area and serve a diverse student population in Richfield and the surrounding communities. Richfield Public Schools inspires, empowers each individual to learn, grow & excel. Job Responsibilities: 1. Follows the District’s job description for teacher. 2. Advanced training in STEM preferred 3. Excellent communication skills. 4. A proven track record in the use of a rich array of instructional methods, the analysis and use of data and technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively. 5. Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning. 6. Evidence of planning, organization, and time management skills that will bring structure and accountability to the position 7. Employs a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments, which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student learning. 8. Uses technology to promote learning, creativity, and collaboration. 9. Works directly with principal and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of STEM initiatives and curriculum. 10. Helps organize, develop, and coordinate special STEM events/activities. 11. Coaches teachers on STEM initiatives and instructional best practices in the STEM areas. 12. Initiates new programs that support the STEM vision. 13. Deliver STEM-oriented instruction through project-based learning methods. Special Education Paraprofessional

A Special Education Paraprofessional’s primary function is to implement assigned tasks during the school year in conjunction with the student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP). Under supervision, Special Education paraprofessionals perform a variety of instructional activities as directed by a licensed teacher. Responsibilities – Is familiar with the special education needs of each student as in their IEP. – Is familiar with the goals and objectives of each student as in their IEP. – Keeps all student information strictly confidential and communicates with appropriate personnel. – Assists in implementation of student’s behavior plans – Assists in implementation of IEP accommodations. – Monitors students and provides test accommodations in the testing room. – Assists individual or small groups of special education students in practicing or reviewing previously learned techniques or strategies – Enforces school rules and communicates with appropriate personnel. – Participates in or provides input for meetings when requested. – Follow all district procedures and policies for maintaining a healthy and safe environment for students and staff. – Photocopies and prepares materials as assigned. – Perform other duties as assigned in support of instructional efforts. – Responsible for the safety and well-being of students.
