QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability.
Boiler Operator’s Certificate (can be obtained after start of employment, but within the first 6 months of employment).
State Herbicide and Pesticide Applicator License (can be obtained after start of employment, but within the first 6 months of employment).
At least two years of supervisor/management experience. Experience with institutional routine preventative maintenance and non-routine and emergency corrective maintenance and lawn maintenance preferred.

REPORTS TO: To be determined upon hire

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Facility Supervisor is responsible for the daily management and operation of district facilities. Your primary role involves overseeing maintenance, custodial, and grounds staff to create a safe, clean, and appealing environment for students, staff, and the public. Responsibilities include inspecting facilities, training new personnel, managing equipment availability, and ensuring tasks are completed safely and on time. Additionally, you’ll lead building and grounds management, oversee construction and remodeling projects, and ensure compliance with goals and funding source requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The usual and customary methods of performing the job functions require the following physical demands: the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, carrying, pushing, and pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Determine and initiate proper action to effectively and expeditiously complete repairs per school policy, sound maintenance practices, and urgency of operations.
Conducts routine and periodic inspections of school grounds and facilities and recommends necessary improvements to ensure site safety, maintain cleaning standards and state and federal regulations, and organize and report deficiencies to the Business Administrator and Superintendent.
Coordinates with building and activities administrators to prioritize maintenance schedules, custodial and grounds work activities within the districts, and directs personnel to appropriate sites or areas.
Maintains a variety of records (e.g., Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), fire inspections, Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), equipment inspections, schedules, procedures, safety logs, maintenance requests, etc.) to provide complete and accurate documentation and audit trail in compliance with district, state and federal regulations.
Monitors related budget items, both capital outlay and general fund, to ensure expenses are within budgetary allocations.
Monitors districtwide maintenance and security (e.g., fire alarms and security, fire extinguishers, maintenance standards, etc.) to inspect sites, document pertinent information, and limit loss and liability.
Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and gather information required to perform functions.
Performs need assessments to ensure that selections and purchases meet the present and future needs of the District.
Plans and directs the daily work activities of all maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel (e.g., cost estimates, work orders, etc.) to ensure that the department functions safely and efficiently.
Prepares various reports (e.g., budget, cost evaluation, pesticide applications, playground installation, inspections, etc.) to convey information and provide documentation to meet district, state, and federal requirements.
Prepares specifications and bids (e.g., carpet replacement, custodial equipment, chalkboards, special projects, etc.) to submit accurate cost estimates of proposed work activities.
Procures equipment, supplies, and materials to maintain appropriate inventory and availability of required items.
Provide estimates and recommendations to the Business Administrator related to long-range capital outlay expenditures to ensure that these areas provide a hazard-free environment for students and staff in the most cost-effective manner possible.
Researches maintenance and operations equipment and cleaning products to evaluate products to meet the District’s standards and environmental goals.
Respond to emergencies and may be required to be available on 24-hour calls to determine and implement appropriate actions necessary to resolve the situation.
Supervises all maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel (e.g., hiring recommendations, interviewing, contacting references, training, evaluations, etc.) to maximize the workforce’s efficiency and meet operational requirements.
Provides on-site assistance to maintain workforce capacity when staff are absent or additional help is needed to support district facilities and grounds.
Trains maintenance, custodial, and grounds personnel to ensure proper cleaning and building maintenance techniques, injury prevention, and legal compliance.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Contract of 260 days.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE:

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually.

Adult Basic Education Teacher

This is a one-year long term sub position with the potential for future ABE opportunities.

Alexandria Area Adult Basic Education (ABE) Consortium is currently seeking a part-time ABE instructor for its classroom in Morris.  Programming is located at the Morris Area High School.

This is a rewarding in-person teaching position, working with adult learners (age 17 or older, no longer enrolled in high school) in the academic areas of GED, Adult High School Diploma, English as a Second Language, Digital Literacy and Basic Skills instruction in the areas of reading, writing and math.

Responsibilities include lesson planning and instruction, conducting ongoing assessment, monitoring student attendance, collaborating with other staff, and keeping student records.

Qualifications

Minnesota Teaching License is required.

Experience with online instruction and a variety of online instructional tools.

Ability to engage learners in both the online and in-person learning environments.

Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with teams.

Experience working with multicultural populations and English language learners is preferred, but not required.

 

9-month position

Position Summary

The Director of Labor Relations, Human Resources, supports the district’s mission to inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage, and competence to achieve their dreams, contribute to their community, and engage in a lifetime of learning by providing strategic leadership and oversight in assigned human resources functions. Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources and working in a shared leadership model with the Personnel Director, this position directs the development and implementation of personnel policies, benefits and compensation programs, and strategic planning initiatives. The Director negotiates the majority of the district’s labor/unit contracts and oversees the collective bargaining processes, grievance procedures, and compliance reporting. The Labor Relations Director also advises and supports district administrators in personnel and performance matters; supports staff development; oversees employee/labor relations, and other human resource programs and initiatives as delegated by the Executive Director.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Labor Relations: Oversees formal labor–management relations, including protected activities, unfair practices, union organizing, collective bargaining, and contract administration – 35%

Establishes and maintains effective labor–management relationships with system leaders and union/unit representatives.
Interprets and administers collective bargaining agreements and employee contracts.
Designs labor relations practices and strategies aligned with the district’s mission.
Coordinates Meet & Confer meetings, labor–management committees, task forces, and work groups.
Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Directs alternative dispute resolution processes and coordinates grievance procedures.
Collaborates with General Counsel and the Executive Director of Human Resources to resolve grievances and other labor issues, including arbitration.
Works with the Human Resources Leadership team and General Counsel on complex and sensitive employment matters.
Leads collective bargaining negotiations with multiple labor unions and associations, developing strategies and proposals in collaboration with Human Resources leadership, the School Board, Superintendent, Executive Finance Director, and legal counsel while ensuring adherence to financial parameters and organizational objectives.
Employee Services: Provides strategic oversight of employee engagement, benefits, and compensation operations – 35%

Provides strategic oversight of benefits and compensation plans for all employees.
Sets strategic direction for benefits and compensation to ensure best practices and effective resource use.
In collaboration with the HR leadership team, manages classification and compensation systems to ensure compliance with pay equity requirements.
Oversees benefits systems and remains current on regulations and best practices.
Benchmarks compensation, recommends changes to pay ranges and compensation structure in light of collective bargaining agreements.
Coordinates with Business Services and Payroll on compensation and records.
Directs insurance bid and RFP processes for benefits programs.
Manages relationships with insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party administrators, including audits.
Provides strategic oversight and collaboration on system wellness initiatives.
Develops programs to promote a positive and productive work environment.
Collaborate with HR Coordinator and key partners to plan and coordinate the Insurance Advisory Committee and Retirement Advisory Committee.
Hiring Manager Support: Supports hiring managers in policy enforcement, performance management, and employee/labor relations strategies – 15%

Provides consultation to hiring managers on policies, procedures, contracts, best HR practices, and compliance.
Conduct workplace investigations in compliance with applicable laws, policies, procedures, and district expectations for staff.
Advises managers on performance and disciplinary matters.
Develop and implement supervisor training and resources.
Identify labor relations trends and proactively implement strategies to ensure consistency and alignment with district goals.
Supports supervisors in implementing effective talent management strategies.
Strategic HR Leadership: Participates in strategic HR planning to align with the district’s mission and organizational needs – 15%

Contributes to development and implementation of HR strategic goals.
Ensures HR functions reflect the district’s vision, values, and culture.
Collaborates on department goals, objectives, and systems to provide mission-focused support.
Implements systems, policies, and practices to meet short- and long-term human capital needs.
Monitors and reports on progress toward strategic goals.
Leverages resources for change management, leadership development, succession planning, and employee growth.
Participates in professional development opportunities and system committees.
Collaborates with leadership, department heads, and community stakeholders to develop personnel policies, procedures, and strategic initiatives that align with long-term organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

Experience negotiating labor contracts.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Human Resources/Industrial Relations or related field.
SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) certification or equivalent senior-level certification.

Experience in a public school district.

Salary: Pay Grade 122, $152,633 to $177,817 annually

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work involves frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands to operate a computer and standard office equipment. The employee may occasionally stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Visual acuity is required for reading and preparing documents, viewing a computer screen, and performing administrative tasks with accuracy. The position may require occasional travel to school sites or district locations.

Work is performed in a standard office environment within a school or district administrative setting. The position involves minimal exposure to environmental hazards or physical risks. Tasks are performed in a climate-controlled space with access to necessary technology and resources. The role is deadline-driven and may involve managing multiple priorities and frequent interactions with staff, administrators, and community members. Class II Paraprofessional 2025-2026 School Year – Prairie Elementary
