College and Career Pathway Counselor
White Bear Lake Area High School is working to develop career pathway opportunities to support students to identify career opportunities in industries that provide promise for future job demand, sustainable wages, and potential for industry-recognized credentials. By linking students to career focused courses and closing the opportunity gap of students completing college credit courses we will better prepare students to be contributing, independent adults. To support the development of this program we were awarded a grant from the Minnesota Department of Education to hire a college and career pathway counselor. The college and career pathway counselor will have two essential requirements. First, they will provide leadership and support to students, teachers, and administrators who develop and maintain our career pathway program. Second, they will manage programming in the counseling office to maintain continuity to support the department, especially in regard to college planning. Minnesota Online High School (MNOHS) is a small, public online high school open to any Minnesota resident in grades 9 – 12.
