Saint Paul Public Schools is accepting applications for Teacher – Media Specialist throughout the district for the 2016-2017 school year. The Human Resource Department will review your qualifications and may contact you for an interview. Applicants who are interviewed and recommended as a teacher candidate may be considered for vacancies throughout the district as they occur. Responsibilities: The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties: -Developing and implementing an information media plan that reflects the vision, mission and goals of the school, is an integral part of the school and district curriculum and is consistent with the principles of professional practice. -Empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and lifelong learners by instilling a love of learning in all students. -Ensuring equitable access to information and resources. -Fostering an environment of creativity, innovation, and openness to new ideas, welcoming and encouraging input from others to create consensus. -Working with teachers and other educators to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources. -In accordance with district policy, evaluating, selecting, circulating and maintaining print, technology and innovative resources that support curriculum and enhance instruction and assessment. -Working collaboratively with members of the learning community to define the policies of the school library program, and to guide and direct all activities related to it. -Identifying, acquiring and cataloging library resources using Destiny, the District’s online library program. -Maintaining the library collection including updating and weeding materials and titles regularly. -Collaborating with teachers and staff to integrate information skills and technology tools across grade levels and disciplines. -Encouraging the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning, providing 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community. -Remaining current in professional practices and developments, information technology, and educational research applicable to school library programs. -Educating students and staff about copyright, fair use, and ethical use of information. -Providing professional development to their colleagues in areas related to instructional and technology resources. -Contributing to the District’s Strong Schools, Strong Communities efforts by partnering with other staff to contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources. -Perform other related professional level media duties.

GENERAL SUMMARY: The School-wide Building Principal provides instructional leadership, policy development recommendations, program design and evaluation, budget recommendations, and implementation of a comprehensive program for educational excellence and accountability for American Indian students kindergarten through grade 12. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership in collaboration with the Superintendent and other designated personnel for the development, implementation, and continuous evaluation of a schoolwide, comprehensive school improvement plan. Provide curriculum expertise with the Superintendent and other designated personnel on identifying and implementation of research-based teaching/learning strategies for educational excellence and accountability to American Indian students. Provide leadership in a data driven decision-making process in all relevant areas of the school program including curriculum, teaching/learning strategies, instructional tools, professional development, student learning environment, and policies and procedures. Supervises all supporting services within the school (e.g. Special Education, counseling, After-school program, records, behavior and discipline programs, school lunch program, etc.). Implements and enforces all policy, procedures and administrative rules and regulations. Develops/administrates the following: o Schedules and leads regular school-wide staff meeting, o develops annual school calendar, o develops daily/weekly, quarterly teaching and para-professional schedule, o collects and reviews all teaching lesson plans, o completes school board and other related reports (i.e. annual BIE School Report), o reviews and/or approves/denies leave notices, o security substitutes as necessary Participate in the collection of assessment data and relevant measures of growth and communicate to all appropriate entities. Provide leadership with the Superintendent in collaborative planning, prioritization, and decision making process regarding policy and development recommendation and procedures. Collaborate in the development and administration of annual school budgets in compliance with federal and tribal practices in cooperation with the Tribal Council, School Board, and Superintendent. Lead in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school-wide processes to identify personnel and program needs and provide pre-service and in-service education to address those identified needs. Attends all meetings as required. Attends training and other related session’s specific to meeting compliance with Bureau of Indian Education assurances and requirements. Appropriate work attire is required. Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems. Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers. Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community. Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
