The primary responsibility of the interpreter is to facilitate communication between D/HH students and their peers, school staff, district staff, coaches, community members, or district sponsored events. Communication may be facilitated through different modalities: ASL, expressive and receptive voice, using cross cultural knowledge and knowledge about visual accessibility. Interpreters may need to provide education instruction reinforcement by note taking, tutoring, test reading, assignment modification, and others as directed by the IEP. Secondary Curriculum Specialist (TOSA)
Begins July 1, 2018
8 hrs/day, 200 days/yr.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate professional development activities, workshops, and in-services for secondary teachers.
Coordinate curriculum‐related resources for grades 6‐12, including specialized programs such ALC and MNCAPS (MN Center for Advanced Professional Studies)
Work in collaboration with Elementary Curriculum Specialist and other Teaching and Learning specialists on district wide trainings.
Provide leadership to district staff development committee by conducting needs assessments and setting and evaluating district and site S.M.A.R.T. goals.
Design and offer specialized training based on staff, building, administrative and district needs.
Work in collaboration with building principals and site staff development teams to implement building staff development plans.
Facilitate and/or co-facilitate District Staff Development Committee.
Serve as resource support for staff by engaging in continuous professional growth.
Communicate Professional Development opportunities to the staff and the public.
Design and deliver training for District Teacher Induction Program.
Support probationary teachers through facilitation of training sessions.
Utilize assessment data for diagnostic and intervention purposes as well as for program evaluation.
Support ongoing development of content area literacy for grades 6-12.
Other duties as assigned.
