Academic Services Coordinator

Position Purpose:
The Academic Services Coordinator position assists SCRED member districts in implementing a continuum of academic support for all students within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This position provides collaboration and consultation on specific student cases and overall programming, creates and facilitates high quality professional learning opportunities for member district staff, and assists in the coordination of service delivery to ensure students are receiving effective instruction designed to meet their needs in their least restrictive environment. This position provides targeted support to member districts with regard to academics, including literacy and math.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaboration & Consultation
    • Collaborate with district, building, and/or grade level teams to review the effectiveness of instruction and foster continuous improvement using student outcome data
    • Provide on-site coaching and support for the implementation of evidence-based Academic practices across all prevention levels within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
    • Guide staff in the creation of special education evaluation plans that equip teams to identify students who have Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and their educational needs
    • Support staff in the development of IEPs that are designed to meet the unique literacy and math needs of students with SLD
    • Consult with general and special education staff regarding students who are not responding to instruction and/or skill interventions
    • Promote collaboration between general education and special education staff regarding accommodations and modifications that may help students to reach their IEP goals and access the general curriculum
    • Collaborate with IEP teams to develop effective programs for students with significant and unique literacy and math needs
    • Provide guidance to member districts around state academic requirements
  • Professional Learning
    • Engage in professional learning opportunities aligned with identified goals/needs to inform professional learning opportunities related to academic programming
    • Develop professional learning plans in collaboration with the SCRED Services Coordination Team to ensure alignment with identified goals/needs and messaging across districts and service areas
    • Develop the professional learning plan and budget for the Academic Services and Outcomes service areas in collaboration with Academic Services Team
    • Facilitate professional learning using effective adult learning strategies on a variety of academic topics, including the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation
    • Provide on-site coaching and support to enhance implementation of best practices in academic instruction
  • Coordination of Service Delivery
    • Provide implementation assistance to member districts in regard to MTSS (e.g., data facilitators, problem-solving teams, grade/department level teams, case managers, school psychologists, administrators)
    • Facilitate the implementation of best practices in academic assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation
    • Assist in conducting needs assessments to support various resource allocation and/or programming decisions
    • Secure and disseminate resource materials and equipment for academic-related needs that can be shared across districts
    • Support teams in planning for transitions of students with literacy and math needs between buildings (i.e., from elementary to secondary)
    • Participate and/or facilitate SCRED internal meetings and workgroups as assigned
    • Facilitate stakeholder (e.g., superintendents, principals, curriculum directors, GOM coordinators) involvement and decision-making for database systems and screening/progress monitoring assessments
    • Coordinate the use of database systems for effective MTSS implementation
    • Support districts in meeting child find requirements related to the implementation of Scientific Research-Based Interventions
    • Provide work direction to the Outcomes Coordinator and the administrative assistant supporting the Academic Services Team

Low Incidence Services Coordinator

Position Purpose:
The Low Incidence Services Coordination position assists SCRED member districts in implementing a continuum of supports for students with low incidence disabilities.  Low incidence disabilities include: Moderate to Severe Autism, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, Deaf-Blind, Physically Impaired, Other Health Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, and Severely Multiply Impaired.

This position provides collaboration and consultation on specific student cases and overall programming, creates and facilitates high-quality professional learning opportunities for member district staff, and assists in the coordination of service delivery to ensure students are receiving effective instruction designed to meet their needs in their least restrictive environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaboration & Consultation
    • Provide on-site coaching and support for the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices within the tertiary prevention level of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
    • Guide staff in the creation of special education evaluation plans that equip teams to identify infants, toddlers, and students who have low incidence disabilities and their educational needs
    • Support staff in the development of IFSPs and IEPs that are designed to meet the unique communicative and functional needs of students with low incidence disabilities
    • Consult with special education staff regarding students who are not responding to academic, behavioral, or functional skill interventions
    • Promote collaboration between general education and special education staff regarding accommodations and modifications that may help students to reach their IEP goals and access the general curriculum
    • Provide expertise as part of IFSP and  IEP teams for students with significant and unique low incidence-related needs
    • Collaborate and provide consultation services regarding assistive technology and accessibility, and secondary transition
  • Professional Learning
    • Engage in professional learning aligned with SCRED goals and district-specific needs to inform SCRED professional learning opportunities related to low incidence programming
    • Complete professional learning plans in collaboration with the SCRED Services Coordination Team to ensure alignment with SCRED goals and messaging across service areas
    • Facilitate professional learning using effective adult learning strategies on a variety of low incidence-related topics, including assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, assistive technology, secondary transition, and program evaluation
    • Provide on-site coaching and support to enhance implementation of best practices in low incidence
  • Coordination of Service Delivery
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and work direction to the SCRED Low Incidence team on a regular basis to promote continuity of service, including meeting facilitation, coordination of joint tasks, problem solving for specific student cases or programming, and professional growth opportunities
    • Facilitate the implementation of best practices in low incidence-related assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation
    • Assist in conducting needs assessments to support various resource allocation and/or programming decisions
    • Secure and disseminate resource materials and equipment for low incidence-related needs that can be shared across districts
    • Facilitate the distribution of Collaborative Planning funds for low incidence-related needs
    • Support teams in planning for transitions of students with low incidence disabilities between buildings (i.e., from elementary to secondary)
    • Participate and/or facilitate SCRED internal meetings and workgroups as assigned
    • Participate in the regional Development Cognitive Disability and Assistive Technology Communities of Practice
    • Assist administration in coordinating the activities of SCRED’s itinerant special education teachers and related service providers
    • Provide work direction to the administrative assistant supporting the low incidence services area

Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructor (0.5 FTE)

Position Purpose:
Adult Basic Education (ABE) Instructors are responsible to plan, implement, and assess curriculum for ABE students. This includes, but is not limited to: General Educational Development (GED), English as a Second Language (ESL), US Citizenship, Adult Diploma, digital literacy, workplace skills, career and post-secondary planning, basic literacy and numeracy. Instructors will help monitor and improve student and program outcomes.

Essential Duties:

  • Curriculum and Instruction
    • Provide direct instruction in ABE content areas
    • Select and develop curricula which motivates and reflects the goals, needs, interests and expectations of the learner
    • Direct volunteers as needed
    • Facilitate volunteer literacy tutors/student matches
    • Establish and maintain an appropriate environment for adult learning
    • Demonstrate organizational skills for managing multi-level classrooms?
  • Advising, Mentoring, and Counseling
    • Create and update individual learner plans and goals based on knowledge of adult student characteristics
    • Provide intake, evaluation, referral, placement and support for adult learners who contact the program

    • Seek out opportunities to promote the program

    • Maintain all registration and attendance data for ABE reporting requirements

Project SEEK Coordinator (.25 FTE)

Project SEEK Coordinator
FTE: .25 (45 days)

Position Purpose:The Project SEEK Program Coordinator is responsible for providing SCRED-wide leadership and strategic focus in planning, promoting, coordinating, evaluating, and ensuring a sustainable summer enrichment program for our member districts. This position works collaboratively with the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) representatives and Project SEEK instructors to offer challenging, innovative, and exciting classes to high potential, talented, and/or creative students during the summer. In addition to coordinating the Project SEEK program, this position works with the GATE representatives to strengthen the school year programming available to students within the SCRED member districts.

Essential Duties:

  • Program Planning
    • Plan and facilitate GATE meetings on a regularly basis to promote networking and sharing of ideas/resources across districts not only for the Project SEEK program, but school year GATE programming as well
    • Seek out and assist in the development of innovative programming, including relevant grant opportunities
    • Coordinate a high-quality summer enrichment experience for students across the SCRED member districts
  • Program Outreach and Communication
    • Facilitate the creation of outreach, program promotion, and recruitment activities
    • Create and/or modify a program timeline on an annual basis and disseminate to Project SEEK representatives
    • Manage a SEEK website for program promotion and communication
    • Make requests to district SEEK representatives for SEEK students to be marked in Synergy
    • Create and distribute electronic class catalog and registration materials to potential students and caregivers
    • Provide information to registered students including class assignment and final program information
    • Facilitate communication with the Special Services team to plan for supports and services for students with disabilities and/or medical needs
    • Establish collaborative partnerships with key community organizations, businesses, and stakeholders to ensure program viability and enhancement
    • Create and present reports to the Superintendents’ Operating Committee, GATE advisory group, and other stakeholder groups as requested
  • Resource Management
    • Develop a program budget and maintain records for program expenditures
    • Determine dates, location, and registration fees for program on an annual basis
    • Implement an application process for Project SEEK instructors, including recruitment of Project SEEK instructors as needed
    • Facilitate the development of contracts for the Project SEEK instructors
    • Coordinate the purchasing of program supplies/materials
    • Collaborate with host district’s technology and custodial staff to address programming needs
    • Arrange student transportation to and from program with transportation company
    • Track student registration and participation for reporting purposes
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of the program on an annual basis
  • Program Implementation
    • Facilitate an orientation and training session for Project SEEK instructors
    • Monitor the implementation of Project SEEK programming in order to make adjustments or troubleshoot challenges that arise
    • Deliver Project SEEK instruction, when warranted by program needs

Part-Time Licensed School Nurse

Summary/Objective
The licensed school nurse will work with member school districts to provide support focused on school-based health programs for PK-12. The role will include facilitation of nursing services, discerning needs of members, providing technical support and consultation, training, and coordinating with district teams within the region. This is a 10-month, 3-day/week, contracted position.

The licensed school nurse will also work in collaboration with the Resource Training & Solutions Health & Safety Team, Minnesota Department of Health, local public health, and regional healthcare systems.

Essential Functions

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or a similar health-related field

Current MN Registered Nurse (RN) license

Public Health Nurse (PHN) certification preferred

Licensure as a school nurse (LSN) from the MN Board of Education preferred Valid MN Driver’s License

Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some office organization and event set-up/tear-down is required. This would require the ability to move and lift 30 lbs., stand for extended periods of time, and carry items a short distance as necessary.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a mid-August-mid-June, 3-days/week contracted position. Hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Most work will be on-site at one of our member districts within Pine County.
