Under executive supervision, responsible for advising and supporting the Superintendent on day-to-day matters in the District, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, troubleshooting day-to-day issues, planning and leading projects, facilitating meetings and discussions, preparing materials, and representing the Superintendent and the school district to a wide variety of stakeholders. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Responds to daily electronic and in-person communications from the Board, internal administrators, elected officials and members of the public on behalf of the Superintendent. – Engages in daily communications with the Superintendent and Board members on issues facing the District. – Communicates with parents in the District and parent representatives to various levels of the District. – Communicates with school and departmental leadership and other District staff on all issues raised for the Superintendent’s attention. – Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Office of the Superintendent; directs programs and operations, monitoring the results to assure the Department achieves tactical goals and plans. – Provides leadership and direction to the Office of the Superintendent staff; identifies opportunities to institutionalize prudent financial management practices; manages assigned staff, and assigns tasks, programmatic responsibilities, and projects; evaluates performance, resolves workload and technical issues, and assures that goals are defined and achieved. – Attends and represents the District at community meetings, events and school functions. – Acts as liaison to and responds to requests from national, State and local elected officials and their staff. – Liaison for the Superintendent with private and public community organizations to establish or strengthen partnerships in support of the Superintendent’s agenda and goals. – Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment – Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures. – Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.

Mounds Park Academy seeks a Technical Director for the 2016-2017 school year. Ideal candidates will be responsible, self-motivated individuals who have college level course work in theatrical production, design, and technical theater. Candidates should also possess a love of children, a commitment to the performing arts, technical theater instruction, and a desire to be a teaching artist, working with all types of learners. The description below is a summary of responsibilities and will serve as a reference guide. This is a part time job. Hours will vary throughout the year depending on the individual shows production schedule. The Technical Director (TD) will be expected to work with a great deal of independence and must exercise sound judgment while performing the following duties: 1.Operates, maintains and safeguards the technical aspects of two theatre facilities. This includes supervising the use of lighting, sound and communications equipment at all theatre productions and technical weeks. 2.Plans, supervises, and assists in the design, construction, and management of sets and stages for all theatre productions. 3.Supervises the implementation of approved technical designs. 4.Advises and assists the contracted production team and student crew, on technical specifications, usage of equipment and technical budgets required for each show. 5.Maintains a clean and safe workshop. Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; arranges for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; performs preventive maintenance on equipment. 6.Leads the student crew for all productions and assists in recruiting, training and assigning volunteers, students or paid technical staff for individual shows. 7.Assists with the preparation and control of production budgets; maintains inventory and orders specialized supplies. Makes recommendations to the Theatre Faculty regarding capital purchases of technical equipment.
