*Manage enrollment process for students with IEPs from inquiry to enrollment and IEP team action *Communicate and consult with teachers regarding the instructional program for students with disabilities or other special needs *Assist in writing evaluation reports and IEPs *Coordinate out of district placement meetings and serve as District Representative *Routinely review IEPs for compliance alignment *Assist in the development, tracking, dissemination and proper implementation of IEP or 504 *Communicate directly with parents, as needed, to answer questions *Develop a working knowledge curricular options, and how they can be adapted and implemented to meet specific student needs; introduce new ways of supporting students with special needs *Interpret issues relating to the following: special education due process procedures; compliance with state and federal laws; educational programming for students with disabilities; identification of students with disabilities, ages birth-21 and inclusion *Provide supervision to special education staff as assigned by Director *Plan and carry out in-services to meet staff development needs and provide technological support for computerized IEP program- e.g. SpEd Forms, Infinite Campus *Consult with school personnel and parents of children with disabilities regarding appropriate programming and/or follow-up services and assures appropriate reporting to parents *Work with Child Study Committees in developing, implementing, and evaluating proper child study procedures *Serve as a building level resource to principals, assistant principals, and lead teachers concerning special education issues. *Negotiate, conciliate and mediate conflicts unresolved at the building level to assist in successful programming for students. *Facilitate special education homebound services. *Attend and consult with district wide specific disability area service providers (i.e., speech clinicians, motor team, and assistive technology).

Special Education Teacher – Long Term Substitute

Integrate input from teachers, parents, student performance on curriculum-based measurements, standardized tests, work samples, and observations to develop individualized education programs (IEPs). Provide direct and indirect instruction in reading, writing, math, organizational strategies,social skills, and sensory and behavioral regulation, along with crisis intervention, for students at all elementary grade levels (K-5). Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams–general education teachers, related service providers, administrators–to adapt/modify general education programs, target specific skills, offer instructional and material support. Develop and maintain progress monitoring systems to track data for IEP goals/objectives Communicate with parents to discuss progress and identify educational priorities within the IEP process.
