Mounds Park Academy seeks a Technical Director for the 2016-2017 school year. Ideal candidates will be responsible, self-motivated individuals who have college level course work in theatrical production, design, and technical theater. Candidates should also possess a love of children, a commitment to the performing arts, technical theater instruction, and a desire to be a teaching artist, working with all types of learners. The description below is a summary of responsibilities and will serve as a reference guide. This is a part time job. Hours will vary throughout the year depending on the individual shows production schedule. The Technical Director (TD) will be expected to work with a great deal of independence and must exercise sound judgment while performing the following duties: 1.Operates, maintains and safeguards the technical aspects of two theatre facilities. This includes supervising the use of lighting, sound and communications equipment at all theatre productions and technical weeks. 2.Plans, supervises, and assists in the design, construction, and management of sets and stages for all theatre productions. 3.Supervises the implementation of approved technical designs. 4.Advises and assists the contracted production team and student crew, on technical specifications, usage of equipment and technical budgets required for each show. 5.Maintains a clean and safe workshop. Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; arranges for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; performs preventive maintenance on equipment. 6.Leads the student crew for all productions and assists in recruiting, training and assigning volunteers, students or paid technical staff for individual shows. 7.Assists with the preparation and control of production budgets; maintains inventory and orders specialized supplies. Makes recommendations to the Theatre Faculty regarding capital purchases of technical equipment.
