Position: Language Arts Middle School Teacher Status: 10 month, Full time, Exempt Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning Date of Description: June 2016 Primary Functions of the Position: The Language Arts teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Middle Year Program (IB) Language Arts Curriculum according to the school’s program objectives to students. PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: *Prepare MYP unit plans and conduct daily classroom instruction to appropriate instructional level *Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students both academically and socially *Organize the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment; *Observe and evaluate student’s to determine student progress or to make suggestions for improvement. *Provide feedback to parents on a student’s progress at conferences and other meeting *Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS: *Be knowledgeable of and adhere to school values and code of conduct. *Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all school policies and procedures. *Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the stipulations of the employment agreement *Be knowledgeable of and adhere to federal and state laws that apply to his/her job assignment. *Provide direction and supervision for all school activities to which assigned (coach, director, supervisor, chaperon, etc.). *Participate in the development and implementation of district goals and plans. *When applicable, provide direction and/or supervision for teacher assistants, student teachers, interns, substitutes, and students.
