Special Education / Work Experience Teacher (2233)
Saints Academy is a small community based alternative program for students in grades 9-12 who, for a variety of reasons, are not being successful in the traditional high school setting.The program is located at the Crossroads School & Vocational Center (CSVC) -Provide direct special education services for students who have disabilities -Provide consultation and support to classroom teachers regarding students on IEPs. -Provide work direction and support to the assigned Educational Assistants. -Perform educational assessments of students as required. -Develop, write and implement IEPs for assigned caseload. -Ensure that due process requirements are being followed. -Contact employers and develop community-based opportunities for students to job shadow, have short-term exploratory job placements and longer-term work experiences. -Match students needs, skills and interests with available job placement opportunities. -Meet regularly with job site supervisors to insure that placement is appropriate for all involved and problem solve as needed. -Provide necessary training to students prior to placement, and ongoing support once placed at a work experience site. -Coordinate the delivery of work experience services with IEP Managers and other providers to ensure continuity and consistency in providing comprehensive special education services to students.
Health Educational Assistant – LPN (2232)
Under general supervision, oversees workflow of day-to-day duties of the school health office including serving as the primary point of contact for students needing health assistance. Performs LPN type services as assigned by the district-wide licensed school nurse and in accordance written policy. Uses basic First Aid and CPR when necessary to respond to medical emergencies. Communicates frequently with parents regarding student illness and injury. Health Educational Assistant – LPN duties will vary according to the individual school health program at each site.
