Literacy Coach will closely with the Superintendent, Director of Elementary Education and the PYP Coordinator to ensure the most rigorous and relevant reading curriculum is delivered to all students at Community School of Excellence. (S)he will work to coach and mentor reading specialists to ensure that reading comprehension is measured appropriately to ensure effective progress among all students.

The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the English Language Learning program. The ELL Teacher works closely with faculty to build teachers’ expertise in instructing students who are English Language learners; works directly with students to support their learning needs; and communicates frequently with families providing them with information about language and literacy development and their students’ progress.

Responsibilities: The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties: -Developing and implementing an information media plan that reflects the vision, mission and goals of the school, is an integral part of the school and district curriculum and is consistent with the principles of professional practice. -Empowering students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and lifelong learners by instilling a love of learning in all students. -Ensuring equitable access to information and resources. -Fostering an environment of creativity, innovation, and openness to new ideas, welcoming and encouraging input from others to create consensus. -Working with teachers and other educators to build and strengthen connections between student information and research needs, curricular content, learning outcomes, and information resources. -In accordance with district policy, evaluating, selecting, circulating and maintaining print, technology and innovative resources that support curriculum and enhance instruction and assessment. -Working collaboratively with members of the learning community to define the policies of the school library program, and to guide and direct all activities related to it. -Identifying, acquiring and cataloging library resources using Destiny, the District’s online library program. -Maintaining the library collection including updating and weeding materials and titles regularly. -Collaborating with teachers and staff to integrate information skills and technology tools across grade levels and disciplines. -Encouraging the use of instructional technology to engage students and to improve learning, providing 24/7 access to digital information resources for the entire learning community. -Remaining current in professional practices and developments, information technology, and educational research applicable to school library programs. -Educating students and staff about copyright, fair use, and ethical use of information. -Providing professional development to their colleagues in areas related to instructional and technology resources. -Contributing to the District’s Strong Schools, Strong Communities efforts by partnering with other staff to contribute to student achievement and the alignment and sustainability of resources. -Perform other related professional level media duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES Lead of ESL Programming *Assists site level administrators and/or the Director of Special Programs/Projects in supporting, training and coaching certified and classified personnel within the ESL program. *Develops/coordinates/determines the delivery/effectiveness of relevant in service/staff development activities for ESL staff. *Develops and/or coordinates effective and inclusive practices in instruction for English Language Learners. *Develops and/or coordinates the alignment and articulation of a content based ESL curriculum. *Assists in the planning, development, and implementation of program evaluation. *Participates in compliance, focused monitoring and technical assistance reviews. *Observes/provides peer assistance for colleagues. Participates in formalized peer review processes as a formative evaluator. *Serves on district-level committees and teams. *Assists with the selection and support of new ESL staff. *Develops/implements/revises program procedures and policies in accordance with local, state and federal laws and guidelines. *Develops data collection systems, monitors data collection and provides programmatic recommendations based upon results. *Maintains knowledge of current laws and regulations pertaining to English language learners through attendance at meetings, in-service programs, conferences and reading current literature. *Participates on school-based LEP Committees and School Improvement Teams as appropriate. *Coaches and advises ESL staff on appropriate methods of language instruction, lesson delivery and program design, scheduling, and service models. *Maintains district ESL website. *Performs other related duties as assigned.
