Literacy Tutor – Minnesota Reading Corps

Position title: Literacy Tutor Minnesota Reading Corps Position Placement: Sojourner Truth Academy, 3820 Emerson Ave N, Minneapolis, 55412 You can help children succeed in school by giving them the extra support they need to read. Whether you’re looking to explore a new career in education, reenter the workforce or simply want to work with kids, you can make a direct impact by serving one year as a Minnesota Reading Corps Literacy Tutor at Sojourner Truth Academy. Two full-time elementary Literacy Tutor positions are available for the 2016-2017 school year! During your eleven-month AmeriCorps service, you’ll receive extensive training, support and general professional development opportunities. In addition, you will receive a modest living allowance of about $544 biweekly, an education award of $5,775, and other benefits if eligible. Most tutors will begin on the first day of the program year in August 2016. Strong preference is given to applicants who can begin on time. Elementary Literacy Tutors work one-on-one with K-3rd grade children who need help learning to read. They use prescribed literacy interventions and conduct weekly progress monitoring to ensure their students are on track to read at grade level by the end of third grade. They commit to daytime hours. As a tutor, you will be trained to implement proven research-based strategies, monitor progress and help children believe in themselves and succeedall while building your own skills and professional network. Reading Corps has seen real results and is helping catch children up to their peers.

Position Summary The purpose of the position is to provide data input, support and analysis to the offices of Admission and Development. The Database Specialist will provide support on a number of programs and new initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Office of Admission *Manage overall flow of information/ data in and out of Office of Admissions content management systems Education/Financial Edge *Coordinate logistical data flow between Education/ Financial Edge, Powerschool, and Raisers Edge systems *Data entry assistance as needed for inquiry, applicant, and enrolled student information *Coordination of logistical data needs for daily and event visitors *Running of weekly reports related to marketing initiatives (mailing data, email data, etc.) *Running of weekly/monthly enrollment reports; liaise with CFO for data reporting needs *Overall maintenance of data systems with strategic communication and advising to Director of Admission if software updates and/or changes are needed *Running of reports as needed for Division directors regarding enrollment status and projection reports *Assist Director of Admission with demographic data analysis and reporting *Serve as lead trainer and database manager for Admission staff on all database systems *Other duties as assigned Essential Duties and Responsibilities Office of Development *Manages the Raiser’s Edge database, maintaining an accurate database of donors, volunteers and program participants *Performs gift-processing activities for all individual donations, including appropriate coding of gifts and the timely production of acknowledgements. *Tracks all grant activity in Raiser’s Edge; maintains grants calendar. *Runs queries, produces reports, and configures tables and fields and imports contacts as needed. *Works with the Director of Development and Controller to ensure timely and accurate postings to the general ledger. *Collects, reviews and audits data for accuracy, investigating discrepancies and resolving them. *Processes online donations, event registrants and volunteer sign-ups from online sites to ensure they are accurately transferred into Raiser’s Edge *Offers strategic input as it relates to the database and its capacity to assist other staff. *Performs customer service-oriented tasks by responding to school-based inquiries. *Creates and provides documentation and follows processes to ensure the highest possible level of accuracy. *Provides staff assistance and training for the Raiser’s Edge database. *Provides data support and assistance to the Director of Development, as needed. *Other duties as assigned
