Position Summary: The Community Education Program Coordinator plays a key role in managing and expanding the Hudson School District’s community education services. This includes before and after school childcare, 4K wrap care, youth and adult enrichment programs, and recreation opportunities. The Coordinator ensures high-quality programming, fosters community partnerships, and enhances learning and recreational experiences for participants of all ages.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, community development, recreation management, or a related field (preferred); equivalent work experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in program coordination, education, recreation, or community engagement (preferred).
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups and build strong community relationships.
- Strong problem-solving skills to address program challenges and improve offerings.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and social media platforms for communication, marketing, and program management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and provide direction for Community Education contracted instructors and School Age Care employees, ensuring high-quality program delivery.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback to staff.
- Establish clear expectations for program instructors and childcare employees, fostering a positive and professional work environment.
Program Development & Management
- Oversee the planning, development, and continuous improvement of Community Education programs to meet the needs of students, families, and community members.
- Coordinate logistics, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement safety protocols and supervision procedures for childcare and enrichment programs.
- Conduct surveys and program assessments to evaluate effectiveness and make data-driven improvements.
Staff Recruitment & Development
- Recruit, hire, and train Community Education instructors and School Age Care staff.
- Provide ongoing professional development and mentorship for program staff.
- Assign tasks and monitor staff performance to ensure program goals are met.
Community Engagement & Marketing
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and community leaders to expand program opportunities.
- Promote programs through social media, newsletters, flyers, and other marketing strategies to increase participation.
- Collaborate with Student Services and special education staff to develop inclusive programming and support students with special needs in childcare and enrichment activities.
Budget & Operations Management
- Monitor program revenues and expenditures to ensure financial sustainability.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and funding strategies in collaboration with leadership.
- Keep district administrators and custodial staff informed about facility usage, programming updates, and operational needs.
Community & Family Support
- Act as the primary point of contact for parents, families, and community members, addressing inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure all staff and instructors adhere to district policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
Other Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in school events, meetings, and professional development opportunities, including some evening hours as needed.
- Maintain regular, punctual attendance and ensure program consistency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, or pushing of materials and classroom equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
- Work primarily in a school setting, with occasional outdoor supervision and off-site activities.
Terms of Employment:
- Contract Length: 260 days per year.
- Evaluation: Performance evaluations will be conducted by the Assistant Director of Community Relations, in accordance with Hudson School District Board of Education policies.
