QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a valid 9 – 12 Physical Education and Health teaching license in the State of Minnesota.
Teachers must be able to demonstrate the highest commitment to student achievement and effective development.
Teachers must have the willingness to adapt to becoming part of a total school effort in educating our students.
Teachers must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, students and parents in providing and promoting positive relationships.
Teachers must be of the highest integrity with a strong commitment to modeling excellence in all aspects of the teacher/student/parent relationships.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

WAGES:
Candidates will be placed on the teacher contract and will receive benefits according to the CEA
contract.

Major Job Functions; Specific Tasks/Required Knowledge, Ability and Skills: This is a fulltime position in Special Education Elementary center-based program – EMBARK The EMBARK program provides each student with individualized instruction, supports, and services. The goal for each student is to access the general education setting in order to generalize social skills and to access academic instruction. All district center-based programs are multi-categorical based on student needs.  This program primarily serves students who have qualified for special education services under the categories of Emotional or Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and Other Health Disabilities (OHD).

This position reports to the Director of Student Services and provides leadership in the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of programs for students with disabilities at all district program levels according to State and Federal law.

 

Responsibilities: Oversees all aspects of special education programming and supervises staff; prioritizing and assigning work; monitoring child find, assessment and programming decisions, conducting performance evaluations; coordinating staff training; implementing hiring, discipline, and termination procedures; and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, procedures, and policies.

Ensure quality programming and services by monitoring students who receive special education services in collaboration with building and district staff to ensure appropriate and effective delivery of services and promote positive student outcomes.  Mediates and resolves conflicts and; if necessary, coordinates District participation in formal dispute resolution processes.

Monitors students and promotes advocacy for students who receive special education services in collaboration with building and district staff to ensure appropriate and effective delivery of services and promote positive outcomes. This includes collaboration with private schools located in the District boundaries and homebound instruction.
