Long Term Substitute- Centennial Preschool

CENTENNIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is the connecting hub for the communities of Blaine, Centerville, Circle Pines, Lexington and Lino Lakes, located 20 minutes north of Minneapolis and St. Paul.  With 9 exceptional schools serving 6,400 students, Centennial offers a track record of academic success combined with a consistent district-wide drive for improvement.  Annually, district’s high school graduation rate of 94.7% is at the top of Minnesota’s rankings.

Centennial’s schools are safe and filled with respectful students who are a wonderful reflection of and contributors to the community.  The district’s vibrant learning environments and personalized, team approach supports the strengths and addresses the challenges of each individual student.  The curriculum throughout K-12 is focused on the knowledge and skills necessary for success in the 21st century.  Importantly, Centennial is distinguished by its use of data to drive achievement, its innovative use of technology, and its exceptional faculty, with 78% of them holding a master’s degree.

EARLY CHILDHOOD

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a licensed Early Childhood, B-3, or Pre-Primary teacher with the State of Minnesota.

Teachers must be able to demonstrate the highest commitment to student achievement and effective development.

Teachers must have the willingness to adapt to becoming part of a total school effort in educating our students.

Teachers must have a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with other staff members, students and parents in providing and promoting positive relationships.

Teachers must be of the highest integrity with a strong commitment to modeling excellence in all aspects of the teacher/student/parent relationships.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

WAGES:

Consistent with the current Teachers’ Master Agreement.

Job Summary
Provide language instruction, to students who are English Language Learners.  Assist classroom teachers in determination of appropriate instructional modifications to assure success. Work collaboratively with building staff.  Provide direction to ELL Paraprofessionals. as applicable, on day-to-day activities for student achievement.  Participate in planning meetings and facilitate communication between staff and families if necessary.

Job Functions

Provide assistance and leadership in teaching ELL students the language of instruction.
Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
Support the district’s mission, vision and values.
Consult with other educators, staff and parents in meeting the unique educational needs for ELL students.
Consult with other educators, staff and parents in the management and data collection around results of language instruction.
Assist in making changes and adjustments to instructional techniques and accommodations and modifications for students.
Deliver the district’s written, taught and assigned curriculum.
Maintain knowledge and skills with 1B Program changes and updates.
Participate with families at school conferences and meetings with parents when needed.
Communicate with appropriate teachers and other district staff personnel as necessary on educational matters.
Promote family attendance and involvement in school conferences and events.
Promote full consideration of individual needs of English Language Learners in the academic environment.
Other duties as assigned.
