Intermediate School District 917 is seeking a dynamic, innovative administrator to lead our Secondary Programs (Alternative Learning and Career & Technical Education programs).  Under direction of the Superintendent, the Principal of Secondary Programs is responsible for the overall supervision, coordination, and implementation of Alternative Learning and Career & Technical Education programs for the district. Monitor and provide leadership around Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
Recruit and retain qualified secondary and career and technical education staff
Work collaboratively with member districts in the hiring and oversight of career and technical programming
Manage program budgets
Hire, supervise, and evaluate program or building staff
Provide leadership and development for programs including instructional, curriculum, assessment and teacher staff development
Communicate with stakeholders; participates in setting and administering district goals and outcomes
Provide general oversight of district resources
Provide leadership in the development and administration of policies relative to the operation of the schools

Community Education – Specialist

Job Summary:
To provide support for the Community Education program.

Essential job functions include the following:
– Maintain current and accurate records in the community education registration system for all  community education programs including, enrichment, summer camps and summer band and orchestra. Records include schedules, enrollment, feedback and contact information for school year programs and summer programs.

– Coordinates facility scheduling and needs in the facilities management system including  building permits, room/space assignments, fees and individual concerns.. Collaborate with building staff on room assignments, facility availability, usage and rental as well as  resolve problems with scheduling conflicts. Coordinate communication with district staff, site managers, instructors, and Facility use groups including sports associations, community organizations and other facility use groups as needed. Support training on facility use software with building staff

– Implement and maintain registration, billing/invoicing, collection and reconciliation of enrollments.  Reconcile credit card payments, provide refunds and process bank deposits. Assist other community education programs as needed

– Work with middle school coordinators and assistant high school assistant activity directors on registrations, event and facility scheduling, ordering of equipment, transportation needs and timecards for Middle and HIgh School community education programming.

– Hire, schedule and supervise building supervisor paraeducators. Coordinate custodial coverage for community education programs.  Approve time cards, budget codes and process with payroll. Collaborate with Human resources on community education, new hire processes and job postings.

– Provide administrative support for Laurentian Environmental Center by coordinating registrations, billing, ordering of supplies and merchandise, schedule transportation, reconciling invoices and bank deposits.

– Work with Community Education Coordinator on publications, press releases and communication with schools and other community education programs.

Other functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:- Order and maintain department supplies

English Language Learner (ELL) Assistant

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department will accept online applications for the position of English Language Learner (ELL) Assistant at Kaposia Elementary School, which includes preschool and elementary aged students, for the 2021-22 school year.  This position works 6.5 hours per day with a half hour duty-free lunch, Monday-Friday, school days only.  The rate of pay is $17.82 per hour, based on 2019-21 Educational Support Professionals Contract.

Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting one or more licensed teachers in providing instructional and/or behavioral support to students for whom English is not their first language.

Job Functions

Assist English language learner students in all academic areas under the guidance of a licensed teacher.
Implement curriculum and adapt instructional strategies and materials according to the needs of students under the direction of a licensed teacher.
Support licensed teacher in utilizing a variety of learning and behavioral management techniques as needed.
Assist students, as needed, who ride the school bus by meeting them at the bus in the morning and helping them locate their bus in the afternoon.
Assist students with lunch, media center or other school activities, as needed.
Complete accurate and timely reporting of services and progress for student report cards, progress notes and/or conferences under the direction of a licensed teacher.
Assist teacher in implementing district policies and procedures, including but not limited to emergency procedures, building orientation, confidentiality, student vulnerability, data collection, test administration and classroom management.
Understand and maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with all students, staff, families and community members.
Adhere to staff and program guidelines and district procedures and policies.
Demonstrate prompt, regular and reliable attendance.

Technology-Media Assistant (10-Month)

Effective immediately, the Human Resources Department is accepting online applications for the position of Technology-Media Assistant (10-Month), assigned to Kaposia Education Center Elementary School.  This position works 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday, and reports to the Technology DIrector.

Job Summary
This position operates at the intersection of school technology and traditional media. This position is responsible for providing basic operational and instructional technology support to staff and students and overseeing the daily operations of the Media Center in coordination with the District Media Specialist.

Job Functions

Respond to walk-in requests from students and staff for assistance with software, audio-visual and computer issues by providing basic support and escalating issues to the User Support Specialists when needed.
Respond to phone and email support requests from school and district staff, students and parents.
Document services provided to staff, student and parent customers in the district help desk application.
Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution in conjunction with other department staff.
Assist with ongoing technology training for staff and students.
Assist with the distribution, collection and management of student devices.
Assist substitutes and new staff with their initial technology needs.
Maintain student devices in labs, carts and classrooms.
Manage school computer lab calendars.
Manage school technology equipment, inventory, storage and maintenance.
Provide support to School Assessment Coordinators for online testing, which may include:Scheduling and preparing computer labs and computer carts for testing sessions.
Assisting as needed with test sessions in progress.
Providing other logistical support to the School Assessment Coordinator as needed.
Provide assistance to events requiring audio-visual and other technology support.
Assist staff in the supervision, instruction, and assessment of students as it relates to media and technology services.
Train teachers and students in the processes of media circulation, check-out, and check-in.
Assist with check in and out of all materials (instructional and learning technology).
Assist district Media Specialist in the management of budget, and acquisition of supplies and resource materials.
Assist staff and students with general reference questions, including assisting with Internet and other educational technology issues.
Manage and maintain Catalog, Circulation, Patron, and Report systems for media and technology resources.
Prepare overdue notices, and collect overdue or lost materials fines.
Assist in maintaining media spaces and computer labs as vibrant and effective learning areas.
Maintain a positive, professional and safe educational and work environment at all times.
Participate in “all hands on deck” school and district projects or events.
Cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with all students, staff, families and community members.
