Responsibilities
Professional Development and TrainingParticipate in professional development planning. Coach and provide support to teachers in evidence-based practices to support multilingual learners.
Support the Director of Equity to facilitate the K-12 implementation of the WIDA ELD standards, progress monitoring, and instructional practices rooted in evidence-based practices
Provide leadership, plan and facilitate site team meetings and curriculum development sessions
Instructional Coaching
Provide leadership, plan and facilitate site team meetings and curriculum development sessions
Enhance teachers’ understanding of cultural awareness rooted in Culturally Proficient School Systems (CPSS) and the application of instructional strategies that optimize learning and maintain high standards for multilingual learners
Works strategically with teachers with rostered English Learners (ELs) in planning, monitoring and assessing student learning and reflecting on their teaching
Regularly visits classrooms to provide feedback to teachers to improve instructional planning, delivery, and assessment, including planning for ongoing monitoring and support for the successful language acquisition
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Community School Coordinator
The Community School Coordinator is responsible for the effective implementation, integration, alignment, and coordination of the community school strategy at the site level. This role collaborates closely with the school administrator, families, students, and the Site-Based Leadership Team to assess and address the school community’s needs and assets. The Community School Coordinator manages community partnerships and co-creates a learning environment that fosters a thriving school community where students can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
Knowledge of:
- Public school environment, tiered interventions, family and student engagement, mental health, trauma, and racial equity
- Navigating systems similar to cultural communities, special student populations, and their families
Skills in:
- Designing anti-racism training and developing equity/inclusion tools
- Building relationships with staff, students, families, and the public
- Managing budgets, supporting policy development, and program management
- Communication (written and verbal), project management, and conflict resolution
Responsibilities:
- Lead asset and needs assessments with community input
- Advise school leadership and integrate community partnerships into governance
- Co-create and support a community school vision
- Manage partnerships aligned with school priorities (e.g., early childhood, enrichment, health services)
- Use data to inform decisions and support wrap-around services for students and families
- Facilitate family engagement events and coordinate educational opportunities
