JOB GOAL: The Assistant Activities Director administers the middle school extracurricular programs and supports the Activities Director in planning, implementation, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of interscholastic athletic programs and activities in the District.
SUPERVISES: Middle School coaching staff and all program supervision at the Middle School
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
ACTIVITIES ADMINISTRATION
1. Coordinate and support middle school athletic programs and district-wide activities under the direction of the Activities Director-Associate Principal.
2. Prepare and maintain a budget for the middle school athletic programs, and assist the facilities supervisor in developing a facilities and grounds budget.
3. Oversee supplies, equipment, and uniforms in satisfactory condition, and order all new and replacement supplies, equipment, and uniforms when necessary.
4. Verify that all participants are eligible and have a physical examination, proper permission forms, and insurance verifications per School Board policy.
5. Plan and account for event supervision at middle school interscholastic events and other activities as needed.
EVENTS
1. Coordinate the creation and maintenance of the middle school activities calendar.
2. Schedule the use of all athletic facilities and fields for middle school athletic games and practices following district procedures and support those events as needed.
3. Coordinate with the Activities Director-Associate Principal and/or Grounds Department to verify that all playing surfaces are properly conditioned for all home games.
4. Arrange for officials for middle school events and make arrangements for the payment of officials.
5. Arrange for employees for all home games including timekeepers, scorekeepers, and custodians if applicable.
6. Communicate and document medical and emergency procedures and arrange for the availability of medical supplies at all home contests.
7. Assume responsibility for cancellation/rescheduling of games or events as circumstances require to protect athletic participants and district resources.
8. Plan and account for event supervision at middle school interscholastic events and other activities as needed.
9. Assist in supervision of after school high school events, including weekend events, as directed by the Activities Director-Associate Principal.
TRANSPORTATION
1. Arrange for and confirm bus or other transportation for student participants.
2. Communicate the athletic transportation policy to all coaches responsible for away game transportation.
COMMUNICATION
1. Conduct athlete, parent and coaches meetings as needed.
2. Represent the schools and district at middle school regional meetings and events.
3. Work with coaches to make sure that all student-athletes and parents know the rules and regulations.
4. Work with the Activities Director-Associate Principal to develop, review, and revise the activities handbook and any athletic agreements that each athlete, parent, and coach must abide by, with recommendations from administration and coaches, and subject to school district approval.
5. Promote and model good sportsmanship and maintain an active program that welcomes competing teams, guests, and game officials.
COACH SUPERVISION
1. Supervise, evaluate and meet with all coaches on an annual basis.
2. Renew and hire all coaches at the middle school level in accordance with district policy.
3. Assist as needed in hiring of high school coaches.
RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Follow all rules and regulations of the middle school activities program, including preparing student lists, submitting and creating schedules, dues, and other documents as required.
2. Follow all school rules and regulations pursuant to School Board policy.
3. Communicate and enforce that secondary athletes will be supervised at all times.
4. Work with supervisors in resolving problems of discipline concerning athletes.
