Job Summary:
To provide an environmental education experience through an interactive learning process to diverse groups of students.
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in college
Interest or experience in outdoor recreation activities and environmental education.
Requirements:
Knowledgeable in environmental and firearm/hunter safety education and to be versed in outdoor recreation skills such as fishing, canoeing, etc.
Chaperone in the cabins for 5 weeks, during the Forkhorn Camps (dates listed on website).
Assist students during study time.
Teach students outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
Ability to work independently with little work direction with small and large groups and to create a positive and safe learning environment.
Competent in communication skills with an ability to understand, apply, and explain policies, objectives, rules, and regulations of assigned program and activities.
Knowledgeable in education principals and learning styles and practiced in effective teaching techniques
Ability to interact with program participants and staff in a positive, professional and respectful manner.
Responsible for developing an expertise in LEC curriculum and instruction and to review current LEC curriculum, as assigned.
Responsible for learning and implementing appropriate management of student behavior.
Assists in first aid to participants who are injured on site.
Participates in clean-up of lodge and classrooms with LEC staff. Including maintenance of classroom and program equipment.
