Position: Secondary Alternative to Suspension Teacher (1.0) – Interview Only
Grade: 6-12+

Required Qualifications:
Must possess a MN teaching license in Secondary General Education or Secondary Special Education;
Minimum five years of direct related teaching experience;
Strong working knowledge of secondary curriculum and research based best practices;
Strong working knowledge of modifications, adaptations and interventions across content areas;
Strong working knowledge in the use of assessment and assessment data to inform instruction and behavior intervention supports;
Exceptional oral and written communication skills;
Strong intercultural competence;
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse community, district staff members, parents and the public;
Ascribes to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality.
Desired Qualifications:MN 6-12 teaching license in a variety of content areas;
Experience working in multiple grade levels;
Comfortable with collecting and interpreting data;
Strong working knowledge of Restorative Practices and restorative language;
Prior successful experience in an urban setting working with a diverse student population is highly desirable.
Major Areas of Accountability:Teach students assigned to Alternative to Suspension Program in their current enrolled courses;
Communicate with students` home school liaisons regarding assignments;
Keep appropriate data related to student performance while attending the Alternative to Suspension Program;
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to effective learning;
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs and capabilities of the individual(s) or student groups involved:
Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
Maintain accurate up-to-date attendance records for all students;
Supervise students in out of classroom activities during the assigned workday;
Cooperate with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals and methods;
Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
