Special Education Instructional Assistant

Art & Science Academy has an immediate opening for a Special Education Instructional Assistant.

Ideal candidates for this position will enjoy working with students of all ages in an innovative, supportive and dynamic educational setting and will enjoy working collaboratively with others daily.

Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction/guidance of case manager/teacher

Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans for the students and monitor their progress.

Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities. Work with other professionals, such as speech therapist, social worker, occupational and physical therapists.

Support students with emotional or behavior concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.

The Barnum School District serves approximately 390 pre-k to grade 6 students in our elementary school, and 355 grade 7-12 students in our high school. The district is looking for a superintendent to begin July 1, 2019, who will:

  • be the educational leader and champion of our district.
  • work to acquire a broad understanding of the educational needs and culture of the school and community.
  • have an appreciation of the goals, theories, and trends of public education, and the knowledge by which these can best be put into effect at ISD 91.
  • be of good character and lead by example, with a strong moral compass.
  • be knowledgeable of and comfortable with school finance and maintaining a healthy budget.
  • communicate positively, clearly and effectively with the school board, staff, students, families and community members.
