Special Education Director / District Assessment Coordinator
The successful candidate will serve as the Director of Special Education for the Roseau School District. The Spec. Ed. Director provides leadership to ensure that all learners with disabilities are provided a free appropriate public education within the least restrictive environment consistent with state and federal regulations. Duties include: Represent the district in all matters concerning special education at school sites, within the community, with agencies and organizations, with Minnesota Department of Education. Responsible for district compliance with all federal and state mandates. Ensure that due process procedures are followed in special education matters and documentation is maintained. Facilitate the state monitoring process. Coordinates the filing of yearly reports as requested by MDE. Supervise and train all special education staff, including but not limited to special education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech therapists, occupational and physical therapists, DAPE, and psychologist. Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and placement of SPED staff. The successful candidate will also serve as the District Assessment Coordinator (D.A.C.). Duties include: Know, understand and implement policies and procedures for student assessment(s) which include: Facilitate & coordinate district-wide student assessment(s) Coordinate testing groups and testing sessions with building Principals Track testing data of students via Viewpoint software Coordinate use of appropriate computer testing devices with the Tech Coordinator Provide staff training associated with assessments
