Responsibilities:
1. Supervises programs and staff to ensure schools’ adherence to federal and state due process
procedures.
2. Provides oversight of the special education paperwork system (i.e., TieNET).
3. Compiles data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of writing reports and ensuring
procedural compliance.
4. Coordinates program components, support needs and material for the purpose of delivering
services which conform to district and state curriculum and/or instructional objectives.
5. Attends and/or facilitates IDEA mandated student meetings when needed.
6. Creates and/or provides professional development to unit staff and district personnel.
7. Facilitates unit committees to determine special education curriculum, procedures, appropriate
materials and equipment.
8. Participates in district-level committees to ensure alignment with regular education processes.
9. Attends building, district-level, state special events and meetings and shares pertinent
information with relevant stakeholders
10. Provides assistance with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and
directing work; evaluating performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
11. Manages the special education department in the absence of the executive director.
12. Facilitates conflict resolution and consensus building among various stakeholders.
13. Ensures that special education unit personnel are communicating and partnering with all
stakeholders effectively.
14. Assists the executive director in developing and enhancing quality partnerships among
community stakeholders
15. Assists in the placement of students with special needs in appropriate programs for the purpose
of ensuring their educational needs are met as outlined by state and federal guidelines.
16. Assists with the writing, submission, and implementation of grants.
17. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education.

Adaptive Physical Education Teacher
The Grand Forks Public School District is actively seeking applicants for a full-time adaptive physical
education teacher.
Job Responsibilities Include:
*Teach adaptive physical education to students with disabilities at the elementary and/or secondary
level in small groups or individually
*Develop lesson and unit plans
*Collaborate with school staff, parents, and outside agencies
*Consult with the regular physical education teachers and school staff to facilitate the inclusion students
with disabilities in the regular physical education class, recess, and field trips
*Modify recreational games, sports, and fitness activities to meet individual student needs and
strengths
*Develop, track, and report on IEP goals/objectives
*Attend IEP and team meetings
*Assist with the screening, evaluating, and recommendation of placements of students in the school’s
adapted physical education program
*Other duties as assigned

Safety Coordinator
JOB GOAL: To administer an effective safety programs for the Grand Forks school district.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for directing and coordinating a district wide safety program.
2. Research, develop and implement safety programs to enhance, encourage and promote safe work
rules, practices and conditions; and to prevent, detect and correct unsafe practices and conditions.
3. Review, interpret and communicate school district, local, state and federal safety regulations to
ensure understanding and compliance.
4. Conduct health and safety meetings and training workshops with various employee groups to
educate and motivate employees concerning safety.
5. Partner with Workforce Safety & Insurance to develop and implement a Safety Management
Program which includes safety training, facility inspections, and accident investigation program.
6. Investigate job related safety hazards and write a detailed Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for each job.
7. Comply with Workforce Safety & Insurance recommendations to achieve a reduction in workforce
injury rates.
8. Implement and direct the hazard communication program including managing the Safety Data
Sheets (SDS) for hazardous material.
9. Implement and direct the safe drivers program for employees driving company or personal light
vehicles or trucks on the job.
10. Maintain an inventory of all emergency and hazardous waste materials.
11. Monitor and maintain an asbestos/radon program that meets the Employee Right to Know
requirements.
12. Coordinate with school administration, a review of educational delivery systems and information
being delivered to students regarding safety topics. Recommend as necessary changes in safety
related information being delivered to students.
13. Partner with the Human Resources Department to coordinate and promote an employee wellness
program.

Behavior Intervention Coordinator
Responsibilities:
• School MTSS-B Coordinator
• Ascribes to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrates the commitment to

• Demonstrates exceptional skill in the roles of a teacher leader: collaborator, action researcher,
reflective practitioner, and learner advocate
• Set goals for behavioral changes, monitor students, assess progress and modify behavioral
plans in conjunction with IEP and/or MTSS teams.
• Provide behavioral support and collaboration to teachers and school staff
• Observe students across their educational environments
• Record and analyze appropriate data to monitor student progress in identified areas
• Member of the MTSS Leadership Committee
• Support teachers with the implementation of the school-wide MTSS plan with an emphasis on
behavioral interventions and modeling strategies to help students reset
• Works directly with students who are dysregulated
• Manage, monitor, and analyze assessment and SWIS data
• Helps coordinate plans that address students’ inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to
help the students become more academically successful.
• Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors.
• Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by
providing professional development that targets research, strategies and modeling of
instructional practices to support teachers in their implementation of positive behavior support in
their classrooms.
• Meet with parents as needed and provide techniques to support the positive behavior
development of their child.
