Summary: Faribault Public Schools are partnering with the Healthy Community Initiative on the new RISE program to provide additional academic and mentoring support to Faribault students. The Faribault RISE Coordinators are responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of systems and programs that support RISE students with their academic success, school engagement, and future planning.
Program Overview
Launching in fall 2020, RISE (Realizing Individual Student Excellence) is an intensive program for Faribault Middle and High School students needing academic support – as well as additional/intentional mentoring – to overcome barriers in their lives. RISE is a strengths-based effort focused on students of color, students experiencing poverty, and/or students who will be first generation college attendees. The core of the program is to build a trusting relationship between students and caring, trained mentors who advocate on behalf of students and help overcome challenges they face in their lives.
Tasks for the RISE Middle School Coordinator: Track student progress and conduct individual academic counseling sessions with each RISE student in their cohort at least weekly
Work with each student to create an individual plan that identifies areas of strength, need, interventions, goals, and college aspirations
Collaborate and communicate with parents to create education plans for all RISE students
Promote career interest opportunities
Connect RISE students with school- and community-based out-of-school-time programs
Advocate for the physical, mental, and chemical health of RISE students, including connecting RISE students to community health resources, when needed
Coordinate events, activities and communication for the purpose of affirming and rewarding those RISE students who have achieved academic success and/or met their goals
Coordinate schedules of and supervise AmeriCorps staff assigned to serve the RISE program
Recruit and maintain a pool of volunteer tutors to work with RISE students one-on-one or in small groups
Communicate with teachers, administrators, guidance counselors and social workers in those cases where additional or different levels of academic support and intervention are necessary
Monitor RISE student attendance and assist with designing and implementing attendance interventions when needed
Recruit RISE students for summer programs
Arrange and lead college visits for groups of RISE students
Become knowledgeable of community-based supports within Faribault and facilitate connections to these community resources for RISE students when necessary
Assist with parent night events and other opportunities that bring stakeholders together for the purpose of supporting RISE students
In some cases, provide transportation to or from school for students without means to do so on their own
Conduct home visits to discuss the progress and future planning of RISE students with their parents/guardians

Position:
Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking a talented, motivated School Psychologist position serving Plainview-Elgin-Millville (PEM) School within the Education District. This position is .6 FTE.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:
Conducts psychological assessments; evaluates students for special education/section 504 needs, educational skills, social skills and emotional status
Designs and facilitates programs for children at-risk for failure within the typical learning environment
Facilitates communication between teachers, administrators, parents and students to find solutions to academic, behavioral, and mental health problems; assists others to understand child issues.
Provides psychological counseling; helps students, families and school manage crisis situations to minimize their effect on the learning and mental capacity of the child
Evaluates the effectiveness of academic and behavioral management programs being used; disseminates research for use in evaluations and programs
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments and create Behavior Intervention Plans
Provide leadership to staff and administration in the areas of Multi-Tier Systems of support (MTSS), Response to Intervention (RtI), and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Facilitate data-team (screening/progress monitoring) and child-study team (individual problem-solving) meetings

Caledonia Area Community Education has an opening for a full-time preschool teacher/Surround Care Program assistant. Driver/Special Education Paraprofessional

POSITION:
Hiawatha Valley Education District is seeking Driver/Special Education Paraprofessionals to drive students to our level IV behavior programs and then work as a Paraprofessional in our programs during the day. The Driver will transport students in a 10-passenger van. The hours and exact assignment will be determined based on student enrollment. The approximate work day will be 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM on student contact days.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience driving and transporting students is strongly preferred
Acceptable driving history, valid driver’s license, and ability to pass drivers background check and drivers training test is required
Must meet highly qualified criteria: Associates Degree or higher degree, or meets Minnesota Certified ParaPro Assessment
Experience working with students with behavioral needs strongly preferred
Certified in Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) preferred
Ability to work with a team and take direction from supervising teacher
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
Drive students to and from programs and school districts.
Maintain safety in vehicles at all times.
