EL Teacher – Roosevelt Elementary

Job Description:  1.0 FTE EL Teacher – Roosevelt Elementary School.  The ESL teacher will be working with students at the elementary level. The teacher will be providing English language development instruction to students who are emerging multilingual learners. The teacher will be working with students at various levels of English proficiency and in different instructional modalities. The teacher will be running basic language development classes for lower leveled students, and doing a combination of pushing and co-teaching for higher leveled students. The teacher is expected to collaborate with the grade level content teachers to support the development of multilingual learners in their most advantageous learning environment.  This position commences with the 2024-25 School Year on August 19, 2024.

Job Summary

This job is first open to employees of this agency who are in the Special Teacher classification and are otherwise eligible (with orientation and mobility certification) to apply. Other qualified applicants will be considered after internal applicants.

·         The incumbent in this position will assist the Minnesota State Academies to develop and implement effective orientation and mobility training to deafblind and blind/visually impaired students.  This position will assist blind/visually impaired students to achieve maximum independence through instruction in safe, efficient travel within the home, school, job sites, within the community and in any environment by providing direct orientation and mobility instructional services.

·         **This is an 10-month per year position and the work schedule follows the MSA school calendar.**

Director of Transportation

Position Summary:
The Director of Transportation is responsible for managing district-wide transportation. The Director of Transportation is responsible for supervising assigned employees in the Operations Professional Employees non-union group as well as indirectly supervising Education Support Professionals union employees through other Transportation Department leaders. The Director of Transportation is the main liaison between the District and the key contracted transportation providers. The Director of Transportation is responsible for the department’s short and long-term operational and financial goals consistent with the District’s strategic plan.

Responsibilities:

1. Directs the work of the Transportation Department. Through department managers and contractors, the Director assigns workload to be completed by other employees and service providers. Makes decisions about which contractors, suppliers, and other vendors will be used for Transportation-related work within the District. Follows established procedures, policies, and Statutes for purchasing. Works directly with the Purchasing Department to develop requests for proposals, quotes, and bids.

2. Makes important decisions within the scope of the Director’s responsibility and budget authority within the Transportation Department. Receives approval from other supervision like the Chief Administrative Officer, Superintendent, or School Board when a decision is above the assigned level of responsibility. Solicits input and feedback in a collaborative manner from other leaders like Directors and Principals when making important or strategic decisions that have district-wide impact.

3. Supervises staff within the Transportation Department. Supervision includes hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff. Holds contracted service providers to the terms and conditions of their contracts.

4.Recommends, revises, and interprets School Board policies and administrative procedures. Supports the district when change is needed to budgets, bell times, boundaries, and routing.

5. Maintains accountability to the approved budget for the Transportation Department.

6. Performs other duties as assigned in the Transportation Department. The Director may have responsibilities from time-to-time outside of the normally scheduled hours when emergencies or inclement situations arise.
