Teacher- English Learner (EL)

JOB FUNCTION:
The ELL Teacher provides support for students who are identified as English Language Learners in a variety of settings including co-teaching, small group instruction, and consultation with classroom teachers. Additionally, they provide support for staff through co-planning and capacity building. The ELL teacher supports equity and inclusion work in all facets of curriculum, assessment and instruction.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Identify ELL students using the district criteria, including the ACCESS assessment.
2. Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate instructional programming to meet the needs of ELL students.
3. Collaborate with the District ELL administrator on programming, data analysis, and instructional planning.
4. Be a resource for colleagues by modeling instructional strategies, identifying and developing instructional resources, and providing professional development related to the needs of ELL students.
5. Communicate effectively with students, parents, school staff, and members of the school community.
6. Introduce teachers to new methods, materials, and instructional strategies that, through research, have proven to increase student achievement.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Teacher – Social Studies and/or Alternative Education Social Studies

FTE: 1.0 – The majority of this position will co-teach sections of HHS social studies courses to support at-risk students.

Teacher: Gifted & Talented (.50)

JOB GOAL:
The Gifted and Talented Resource Teacher provides services to students, teachers, administrators, and parents in order to meet identified students’ needs. The position requires the identification of and programming for high ability students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Professional Skills:  The teacher is expected to establish procedures to allow for maximum learning support by:
1. Provides direct specialized instruction to students identified in the gifted & talented program.
2. Must communicate effectively and in a timely manner with all stakeholders using oral, written, and electronic means.
3. Planning and organizing effectively.
4. Demonstrating competency in his/her area.
5. Creating and maintaining an atmosphere conducive to learning.
6. Providing opportunities for individual differences.
7. Encouraging the development of independent work habits.
8. Develops classroom enrichment programming for identified students.
9. Provides materials and information to help create an environment that provides options for the exceptional needs of gifted students.
10. Collaborates and communicates effectively with school counselors to support the academic and social-emotional needs of students in the gifted program.
11. Maintain collaborative relationships with HSD GT teachers through regular meetings and communication.
12. Maintain collaborative relationships with area GT teachers and CESA 11 GT Teachers through consistent networking.
11. Communicates and coordinates with building principal and Continuous Improvement Committees.
12. Communicates with parents, teachers and students on a regular basis.
