Summary:
This position is designed to lead the K-12 implementation of the 2019 MN Science Standards. This work requires collaboration with district and school leaders to create and maintain a culture of collaboration, collective inquiry, evidence-based decision making, continuous improvement, and equity.
Required Qualifications:
Valid MN teaching license in elementary education and/or science;
Bachelor’s degree in elementary education or secondary science and at least five years of teaching experience;
Proficient with ISD 622 instructional technology;
Experience with NGSS or 2019 MN State Science Standards instructional shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in science, education leadership, or curriculum and instruction;
Proven success as a science leader;
Awareness of one’s own racial and cultural identities and demonstrated ability to work across differences;
Ability to effectively plan and facilitate professional development in small and large groups;
Proven experience creating and maintaining strong relationships working in partnership with diverse stakeholder groups;
Effective interpersonal communication, organization, and technology skills;
Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently & as a member of a team;
Strong project management abilities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Support all needs for effective implementation of the 2019 MN Science Standards;
Work collaboratively across schools and departments, including 622 online, to ensure alignment;
Ensure comprehensive curriculum maps for K-12 science;
Work with building principals in the implementation of science core curriculum and instructional strategies;
Lead small and large group professional development;
Provide job embedded professional development for K-12 science teachers through coaching;
Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and District policies related to curriculum;
Co-teach as needed in K-12 science classrooms;
Support the continuous improvement process for all science curriculum and instruction;
Support elementary science center and Educational Assistant;
Summer hours are expected and will be paid at hourly rate to support summer curriculum writing and staff development activities.
