School Nurse, K-12, Part-time, Lewiston-Altura Public Schools

Human Resources Benefits Specialist

Description:
Shakopee Public Schools is seeking a full-time, year-round Human Resources-Benefits Specialist starting immediately. We are looking for a human resources professional who is interested in and committed to benefits and leave management. This is an integral position of the HR Team and will collaborate closely with other team members and district administrators. The incumbent will manage district benefit plans including medical, dental, STD, LTD and worker’s compensation.  They will also work directly with employees to process and maintain leave of absences, monitor and submit appropriate ADA and OSHA submissions and perform additional Human Resources functions as needed.  A successful candidate will assist in providing a culturally proficient and welcoming environment.

Salary $50,000.00 – $70,000, depending on qualifications.
Manage all district insurance programs

Manage the enrollment for eligible staff and retiree participants in medical, dental, life, long-term and short-term disability
Collaborate with payroll to ensure benefit deductions are timely and accurate.
Serve on the district’s monthly insurance meetings
Serve as the school district’s main contact with insurance carries for employee enrollment and eligibility management
Facilitate claim and other insurance plan issues for plan members.
Interpret benefit sections in all bargaining unit contracts and determine eligibility
Conduct annual insurance information sessions and open enrollment periods for health, dental, and all cafeteria plans
Verify health and dental billing statements with district insurance enrollment data to ensure accuracy of enrollment
Maintain monthly, annual and post-employment VEBA deposits
Administer benefits and payments for staff on a leave of absence
Deliver provisions of workers compensation benefits for the purpose of ensuring services are appropriately provided, costs are at a reasonable level, and employees are returned to productive work activity as soon as possible
Maintain private health and benefit files
Compose reports, bills, statements, correspondences and letters
Respond to requests for health data while maintaining HIPPA and government data privacy laws
Develop and maintain databases applicable to employee benefits
Track Injuries and Leave of Absences

Ensure proper reporting of work-related injuries
Manage the worker’s compensation process
Partner with HR Generalist to coordinate transitional work plans (light duty).
Assist in evaluating ADA accommodation requests, obtain necessary physician statement and determine accommodations
Process and track FMLA and other leave requests
Maintain worker’s compensation files
Communicate FMLA process with employees ensuring completion of necessary forms
Provide leave information for board reports
Other

Provide employee income and employment dates
Provide reports as needed to payroll and business office
Update, sort and file records, reports, forms and correspondence manually or on a database
Assist in compiling, preparing and revising department reports
Assist with Human Resources processes and serve as an active team member
Serve on district committees and teams
Serve as a resource to departments and schools
Establish meaningful partnerships with internal customers to improve the effectiveness of the organization through related projects and initiatives.
Main contact for employee benefit questions
Collaborate with the HR Generalists to interpret and administer contract language as they relate to benefits, leaves of absences, and workers compensation claims.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field
One to three years in Human Resources, related benefit and leave experience preferred
Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job including:  FMLA, ADA, ACA, Workers Compensation, Section 125, and HIPPA (preferred)
Experience in all aspects of medical, dental, life and LTD insurance (strongly preferred)
Strong technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and using HRIS technology preferred
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Good mathematical aptitude required
Ability to set priorities and complete tasks despite constant interruptions
Problem solving and conflict resolution skills
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and administrative support skills
Ability to work in high pressure fast paced environment
Experience working in heavy team environment
Working Conditions:
Office environment.

Interim Middle School Principal

REPORTS TO:   Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education

SUPERVISES:    All staff and students of the school

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:  The role of the Principal is to supervise the overall operation of the school, giving direction and supervision to the educational program, implementing the policies of the school board, and carrying out the directives of the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education.  The responsibilities of the Principal include:

Leadership

Identify, pursue, and coordinate the use of all resources to achieve the school’s mission and goals.
Create an environment that contributes to the desired performance of students and teachers in accordance with the school’s philosophy and mission statement.
Provide professional growth opportunities for all staff members at the building level.
Implement a school improvement process.
Serve on committees as assigned by Central Administration.
Participate in local, state, and national professional organizations.
Keep current with trends, issues, and practices in education at the local, state, and national level.
Curriculum and Instruction

Assist in selection, development and implementation of curriculum.
Assist teachers, parents, and students in developing appropriate educational plans for students.
Provide and coordinate diverse co-curricular program for all students.
Work with Special Education Department in the referral, staffing, and placement of special needs students.
Management
Oversee the administration of all programs and develop the master schedule.
Implement the policies of the School Board and directives from Central Administration.
Maintain student discipline consistent with school rules and policies as annually outlined and updated in the student handbook.
Maintain an accurate pupil record and reporting system.
Administer the building budget and account for all expenditures.
Maintain an accurate inventory.
Complete local, state, and federal reports.
Supervise all areas of the plant and grounds.
Participate in planning and supervising construction and renovations to the school plant.
Prepare for emergency situations and communicate and practice emergency drills as appropriate.
Personnel
Recruit, select, and orientate and train all personnel in the building.
Delegate duties to certified and non-certified staff, supervise and evaluate staff according to district and state regulations.
Communication
Maintain communications with building and district personnel, community organizations and media; and collaborate with other educational and social agencies and the community.
Encourage and promote parent involvement in the school.
Provide appropriate written communications:  school newsletters, handbook, etc.
Supervise the planning and promotion of school activities.
