Job Description:
Forest Lake Area Schools is seeking a qualified candidate to serve as Literacy Instructional Coach for the 2018-2019 school year. This position will report to the Director of Teaching & Learning and will work in tandem with our existing literacy instructional coach, providing supports in literacy instruction and collaborating with licensed classroom teachers in our seven elementary schools.
Professional Development:
Coach teachers in effective instructional practices in literacy through modeling, coaching, mentoring and co-teaching
Work with teachers individually, in PLCs and/or within grade level or building teams to provide instructional support and professional development in literacy strategies and best practices including Reciprocal Teaching
Plan and facilitate professional development for both large and small groups around literacy strategies
Observe and provide feedback to teachers on instructional strategies and best practices in literacy instruction
Collaborate with teachers to develop materials to support literacy instruction in the classroom
Assist teachers with the planning, sequencing and scaffolding of literacy instruction
Leadership:
Establish a relationship of trust and confidentiality with teachers
Assist with building leadership as it relates to literacy
Collaborate with school and district administration, teacher leaders, and teachers to support high quality literacy instruction
Partner with the schools’ Professional Development Teams and principals to plan and facilitate professional development in Reciprocal Teaching and literacy best practices
Start date: August 2018
