This position works at the Davis Center from 6:30 AM – 3 PM (8 hours daily) for 52 weeks.

Pay Range:  $18.86-$20.99 DOE

 

SUMMARY
Under general supervision, prepares food for catering and retail food service for the Davis Center Café, Street Eats food truck and for catering events within and outside of the school district; ensures all food is prepared in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Performs food preparation tasks according to planned catering schedule; short-order cooks food prepared from scratch for retail and catering customers.
Performs work within scope of authority and training, and in compliance with MPS policies and quality standards.
Reads and follows Banquet Event Orders and coinciding recipes.
Prepares, seasons, marinates, cooks, meats, and vegetables for use in catered meals.
Cook, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, or shred, meats, fruits, vegetables, and other ingredients.
Evaluates quality of food for flavor and appearance to ensure that items are acceptable for catering and cafe customers.
Inspects food items for the purpose of verifying quantity, quality, and specifications of orders to meet preparation needs and comply with mandated health and food safety standards.
Cleans and maintains equipment and food preparation and storage areas in a sanitary condition to meet mandated health standards.
Reports equipment needs and malfunctions to the Catering and Retail Food Service Coordinator.
Ensures compliance with all MPS, U.S. Department of Agriculture, State of Minnesota Departments of Education and Health, Child Nutrition Program, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) procedures, policies, and standards.
Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment
Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records, and MPS information.
Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish the requirements of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines

 

High School diploma/GED; AND three (3) years of demonstrated experience in large-scale food preparation facilities; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.

 

Knowledge of:

Federal, state, and local codes and regulations governing food handling and public nutrition services.
Complex institutional food preparation equipment.
Safety and sanitation practices for food preparation, distribution and storage.
Methods, materials, and practices of volume food preparation.
Retail short-order cooking methods and procedures.
Principles and practices of effective customer service.
Environmentally responsible and resource-efficient food preparation.
Skill in:

Food preparation techniques and practices.
Efficient and effective use of complex food preparation equipment.
Safely using kitchen tools and equipment, and specialized safety testing and analysis tools.
Performing general math calculations, and inventory and records management tasks.
Reviewing operations, identifying potential food safety hazards, and verifying MPS compliance with state and Federal regulations.
Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
Promoting and enforcing safe work practices.
Operating a personal computer utilizing standard and specialized software.
Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver’s License may be required.  A State Food Handler’s permit (Serv Safe Certification) must be obtained prior to completion of the probationary period.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a commercial food service and kitchen work environment; moderate physical requirements, with risk of burns and cuts; frequent lifting, carrying, and moving up to 50-pound containers of food preparation materials and equipment; may require working in a walk-in freezer. Eligibility for the position is based on passing the required pre-placement exam.

Technology Coordinator

The Technology Coordinator is responsible for providing district-wide technical support to students and staff concerning all technology related issues as well as assisting with data management and reporting as directed by the Director of Technology.

Qualification Requirements
Prefer a two-year vocational certificate or AA degree in computer science, information technology, programming, computer networking or related area and two years’ experience in the area of information technology; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the skills needed to perform the work. Data management experience strongly preferred.

 

Low Incidence Services Coordinator

Position Purpose:
The Low Incidence Services Coordination position assists SCRED member districts in implementing a continuum of supports for students with low incidence disabilities.  Low incidence disabilities include: Moderate to Severe Autism, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Blind or Visually Impaired, Deaf-Blind, Physically Impaired, Other Health Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, Developmental Cognitive Disabilities, and Severely Multiply Impaired.

This position provides collaboration and consultation on specific student cases and overall programming, creates and facilitates high-quality professional learning opportunities for member district staff, and assists in the coordination of service delivery to ensure students are receiving effective instruction designed to meet their needs in their least restrictive environment.

Essential Duties:

  • Collaboration & Consultation
    • Provide on-site coaching and support for the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices within the tertiary prevention level of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
    • Guide staff in the creation of special education evaluation plans that equip teams to identify infants, toddlers, and students who have low incidence disabilities and their educational needs
    • Support staff in the development of IFSPs and IEPs that are designed to meet the unique communicative and functional needs of students with low incidence disabilities
    • Consult with special education staff regarding students who are not responding to academic, behavioral, or functional skill interventions
    • Promote collaboration between general education and special education staff regarding accommodations and modifications that may help students to reach their IEP goals and access the general curriculum
    • Provide expertise as part of IFSP and  IEP teams for students with significant and unique low incidence-related needs
    • Collaborate and provide consultation services regarding assistive technology and accessibility, and secondary transition
  • Professional Learning
    • Engage in professional learning aligned with SCRED goals and district-specific needs to inform SCRED professional learning opportunities related to low incidence programming
    • Complete professional learning plans in collaboration with the SCRED Services Coordination Team to ensure alignment with SCRED goals and messaging across service areas
    • Facilitate professional learning using effective adult learning strategies on a variety of low incidence-related topics, including assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, assistive technology, secondary transition, and program evaluation
    • Provide on-site coaching and support to enhance implementation of best practices in low incidence
  • Coordination of Service Delivery
    • Provide leadership, guidance, and work direction to the SCRED Low Incidence team on a regular basis to promote continuity of service, including meeting facilitation, coordination of joint tasks, problem solving for specific student cases or programming, and professional growth opportunities
    • Facilitate the implementation of best practices in low incidence-related assessment, instruction, inclusion, accessibility, and program evaluation
    • Assist in conducting needs assessments to support various resource allocation and/or programming decisions
    • Secure and disseminate resource materials and equipment for low incidence-related needs that can be shared across districts
    • Facilitate the distribution of Collaborative Planning funds for low incidence-related needs
    • Support teams in planning for transitions of students with low incidence disabilities between buildings (i.e., from elementary to secondary)
    • Participate and/or facilitate SCRED internal meetings and workgroups as assigned
    • Participate in the regional Development Cognitive Disability and Assistive Technology Communities of Practice
    • Assist administration in coordinating the activities of SCRED’s itinerant special education teachers and related service providers
    • Provide work direction to the administrative assistant supporting the low incidence services area

Curriculum Specialist – Multilingual Education Initiatives

Curriculum Specialist – Multilingual Education Initiatives

The Southeast Service Cooperative seeks a full-time (40hrs/week) Multilingual Curriculum Specialist to support a Closing Educational Opportunity Gaps (CEOG) Grant funded by the Minnesota Department of Education. It is anticipated that the grant will be funded for two years (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2026). The Multilingual Curriculum Specialist will play a critical role in advancing equitable instructional practices for multilingual learners within Minnesota schools. Primary responsibilities include leading the development, implementation, and dissemination of high-quality instructional materials and resources.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with content experts, educators, and administrators to design an open-access repository of research-based instructional materials aligned to Minnesota State Standards
  • Ensure that materials are aligned with WIDA English Language Development Standards and address the academic strengths and needs of multilingual learners at multiple proficiency levels
  • Develop cross-curricular common formative language assessments to support all language domains
  • Provide professional development sessions on curricular implementation for educators and administrators.
  • Foster a culturally and linguistically responsive approach to teaching and learning
  • Create resources and learning opportunities to support schools with selecting and implementing high-quality instructional materials based on need/context
  • Develop role-based toolkits for various school personnel (administrators, counselors, teachers, information and technology specialists, and educational support professionals)
  • Outline evidence-based practices and legal responsibilities related to multilingual education
  • Create turn-key resources that can be localized to support schools and families
  • Facilitate reciprocal engagement between schools and multilingual families regarding curriculum options in multiple languages
  • Collaborate on research and dissemination plan for project information
  • Attend virtual and in-person meetings with the Project Director and Project Team
  • Other duties may be assigned given project needs and the applicant’s interests and expertise

Skills and Qualifications

  • MA or PhD in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field
  • Experience designing, selecting and implementing curriculum resources for multilingual learners
  • Robust knowledge of culturally and linguistically responsive curriculum design
  • Robust knowledge and experience implementing the 2020 WIDA English Language Development framework
  • Ability to apply inclusive and accessible design features to all content
  • Technology literacy, including word processing and various other software (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and manage key project or program metrics
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow consistent procedures
  • Exceptional time management skills to meet project deadlines and milestones
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for education, multilingual learners, and equity in education
  • Valid MN Driver’s License and ability to travel throughout Minnesota

Compensation: Salary and benefits commensurate with Southeast Service Cooperative compensation guidelines based primarily on education and experience, with a range between $80,000 and $90,000.
