Music – Orchestra Teacher (Temporary)

Job Summary The Minnesota Department of Corrections has an opening for a Special Teacher – Career & Employability Skills Instructor to provide quality career and employability skills courses in Human Relations (areas such as communications, workplace relationships, cultural awareness, ethics, etc) to offender students. This position will work at the Minnesota Correctional Facilities (MCF) at Stillwater (STW), Oak Park Heights (OPH), and Shakopee (SHK). Responsibilities include but are not limited to: – Provide appropriate and effective classroom instruction in a group setting and in an individualized manner to offenders in the Career & Employability Skills Programs. – Provide career counseling and serve as an advisor to assist students in mastering workforce readiness. – Provide educational counseling and identify resources for students to utilize after being released from the facility. – Coordinate recordkeeping duties for the program. – Maintain physical resources of the Career & Employability Skills Program. – Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature in career technical education fields. This position is located in a correctional facility and will have direct offender contact.
